HEY Bring back the AR 180B !!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for pointing out the labelling error on the website. The 1022 project is a different project (obviously), and has been mislabeled by our web designer (as we just went live with the webpage).

We will have it corrected early in the week. We have not posted pics of the replacement AR180B upper or lower receivers.

Mid next week will see other updates to our site with some of the other product lines as well.

EDIT: The captions on our website have been updated

How so? IMO, it's a good start. Hopefully they will deliver on the other items as promised.

I picked up one of the LPK's and the parts look great. Can't wait to assemble and test.

That fore grip, I don't even know what to say. In my personal opinion, it looks like a first time CAD attempt by some highschool kid.

If we all start to ask Armalite to bring back the AR-180B they may see there is a market for this rifle! Maybe a aluminum lower receiver as well!! One can dream right

As if no one has ever brought that up with them before...

Nodak already builds the aluminium lower. At this point with this Calgary company making parts kits, all the market needs now is uppers and guys can build their own.

Do you really think that a couple hundred Canadians wanting a discontinued product is enough to sway a company like Armalite to do another production run?
Then you want them to change everything and make it with a CNC aluminum lower?
And let me guess you want them to do it all and still have it come to market here for $1200 or less?

Yup, we can dream but maybe try falling asleep sober, being drunk and high when you pass out is going to give you some really crazy dreams.

If they did do another run exactly how they built them before I can guarantee they would be at least $2500 Canadian and even that is wishful thinking.

You mean complete uppers? Not much good without a barrel, bolt, carrier, handguard, springs, piston kit.
Keep in mind, if they're charging $200 for a little parts kit how much do you think a complete upper, lower, rifle is going to cost? Definitely not going to be the $1000 rifle everyone is dreaming of.

Done and done about 3 times in the last 5 years alone personally.
They always replied with "there are plans to bring it back at some point and it's in the planning/development stage"
Then nothing ever happens.
It would have to be a hit in the USA to make it worthwhile in any way for Armalite. In the USA you can use your AR15 anywhere any time. So there is very little interest in this rifle. Especially when you can get an AR15 in the US for as low as $500 these days. What would the point be for any US citizen to buy a limited run firearm that would surely cost as much if not more than an AR15?
The biggest appeal of the AR180b in Canada is the fact that it's NR.
I personally love the rifle and design. I never would have sold the two I had over the years if there was any critical parts support but there is zero. Shear a bolt lug? Enjoy your $1800 paperweight.
I did have the guide rod assy rear pin shear off when using mine in the winter once. I had to fix it myself by carefully boring it out, having a machinist buddy CNC me a new nub out of stock bar, then have it welded onto the plate. Thankfully it worked and I sold it with full disclosure.
Let's just say I didn't "break even" on the price I paid after those repairs were made and rifle was sold....

Yes by uppers I mean complete uppers.

$1000 semi autos are rare. The 180b hasn't been one for a decade.

You would have had a hard time buying a used one for $1000 in the last decade. If they ever did pop up that cheap used on the EE they would have been snatched up in minutes.
We won't see another $1000 QUALITY semi auto 223 again. Instead we have SU-16's and Norinco's for $800-$1500 and quality starts at $2000 and goes up from there. Used is $1500 and up for anything decent unless your ok with it being restricted.

Precisely what I was getting at.

The old armalite AR180B made over 15 years was so cheap because honestly it was a cheap rifle. Plastic lower and a rather crappy ( YES! ) stamped metal upper. They even wielded the trunnion crooked early in the days - that was a contracted out rifle by Armalite essentially and probably assembled/packaged by Armalite only.

To achieve the same price is not impossible. You just have to do a 18" aluminum extrusion tube upper and do something clever with the barrel trunnion to cut cost, like what FN does with SCAR, ie, shove a block of steel down the tube and hold it by 2 cross bolts. You then cut some M-loks on the sides, viola, you have a brand new sport utility rifle!~!!

With today's technology, you can get pretty decent stuff with some clever design.

Here's hoping BCL manufactures a version of the NR AR180B, it would be a great companion to the 102 and my two NEA 15's.

I think they would sell like hot cakes. I would definately buy one.

NEA went through this. They were told any new manufactured, complete, AR180B style rifle would be deemed a variant of the AR180 and therefore prohibited. This could also trigger a reclassification of existing AR180B rifles.

But they could technically just make parts and sell them separately?

And yet the Spud lower got in. No reclassification. Even uses uppers made for prohibited lowers.

Maybe NEA should have just tried instead of being bluffed.

The Spud lower is not a complete, new firearm. It is not a stretch to think the RCMP would claim a new design is a prohibited variant.

NEA is a business. They chose to pursue the AR102 project as it would have a much larger pay off than a new, potentially prohibited AR180 type rifle.
