Hi everyone. I recently signed up to do a course for my PAL. I have enjoyed shooting over the years, mostly my dad's old .22. I did the CORE course back in junior high school as part of an outdoor education class. I want to be able to pack a gun with me when I ride my motorbike up a mountain. Then if I see a cheeky grouse I can eat him:). Of course I like shooting soup cans too. I was thinking some takedown 22lr like the Marlin Papoose or maybe a short shotgun like the Boito hiker .410. Oh, and I know you can't travel with the loaded and all that.

I hope you're getting your RPAL too - it's cheaper to do them at the same time as well.

Whereabouts on the Island are you located? Lots of CGN'ers lurking all over, though I've yet to meet one from tofino.

I grew up in Port Alberni but I am living in Coombs now (goats on the roof). I have heard it suggested that I get a RPAL right off. I might. I don't really think I want to own a handgun, but you never know. Tiina, you must be Finnish. Your name and the fact that you live near Thunder Bay are good clues. My mum immigrated from Finland when she was 3 years old. My best friend is also half Finnish. He was born in Thunder Bay.

Welcome to the sight from another Thunder Bayer, enjoy, I get out to Port Albernie and Sproat lake every few years, beautifull place.

Haha - love coombs.

I know how you feel on the rpal - I actually don't own any right now, but it's amazing for all sorts of things. Find a deal on a pistol? no problem. Buddy needs you to pick up or transport it home? No problem. Certain jobs look on rpal as a benefit as well. Like I said before, it's cheaper and less hassle to get it at the same time as well.

My RPal has already paid for itself three times on the one pistol that was tossed into a deal that I sold for value:)

Hey yourself, and welcome!

I think the Marlin Papoose is kind of cool but I have never held one. Marlin makes good stuff.
Now you have me thinking about a Papoose... :D

Oh yeah, Victoria BTW, and I agree about getting your RPAL. GREAT idea, you'll NEVER regret doing it!!!

Heya from Nanaimo. If you're ever interested in headed out with a few of us youngins (20's) let me know. We've got all manner of boomboom ready to go!

Any excuse to go to the range is a good one. We'll get you shooting some skeet, you'll be hooked.

greetings from a Nanaimo-ite that lives in Edmonton for work.
