Just curious if any members here own or have handled on of these rifles? They're a little out if my budget but from what I've heard they are a top notch rifle for the money.

I handled several recently. A .375 H&H and a .404 Jeffery. Fit and finish was top notch, among the best that I have seen. The stockwork was exceptionally good, as was the metal finish. The action cycled like a custom rifle should even though the Heym Martini is a production rifle. I was able to to compare them to custom Martini rifles in .375 and .280 at the same time. The factory rifles compared favourably but I preferred the real thing....although it is higher priced.

the Heym Martini rifles are very well balanced and point extremely well....despite the heavier weight of 9 to 10 lb unscoped. The design of the Martini stock in the British Best Rifle flavor is a big factor. While handling these rifles, I met and spoke to a couple who had experience shooting them. She took her big game with a .416 Rigby I believe.

I want one in .375 H&H myself.

Seen a Martini in .223 single shot last week in Chilliwack.
Case bluing was very nice and such a small action too.
The $8000.00 asking price was a real eye opener too..so much so I was afraid to ask to handle such a fine looking firearm.

Same here. I even had brought along a nice clean cloth with me to wipe my prints off with but I merely drooled from a safe distance. The lady at the table said they lived just down the street from the shop. There were some very nice rifles at that show. I remember a single-shot Holland & Holland in something like 22 Hornet or similar, all in a beautiful case with some ammo.

Thanks for the info guys. What I'm hearing hear falls in line with everything else I've heard. Getting close to putting a deposit down on one.

Just ordered a 416 Rigby. More than I wanted to spend, but it's going to be a good investment.

Any recommendations on ammo?

Ardent, do you mean a Rigby Rifle in .416 Rigby...or a Heym Martini rifle in .416 Rigby? Both are available.
I think of the Big 5 when I hear...."...Rigby"

Or "who doesnt think of Africa at the mere mentioning of the words safari and/or Rigby?''
Please fill us in on the small details like time till delivery and of course there just has to be a picture or two.

I should see the rifle in a couple months, which really surprised me. Can't argue with that as they are built at the Heym plant in Germany.

Now, I've got to save up for a scope.
