Hi fellas I'm new nice meeting you all :) Just have a quick question umm can milsurps fire blanks? Does it need to be modified or have some accessories attached in order to have it fire blanks? Please let me know, thank you :)

Some military blanks have wooden or frangible plastic "bullets" in order to feed correctly.
They necessitate a "bullet shredder" attachment at the muzzle to render their firing "safe" at normal distances.
Even blanks designed to be used in revolvers can do some damage if fired up close or at point-blank range.

Blanks

Most Modern blanks have a wax cap on the end and a crimped nose to allow them to feed. The wax burns up in the barrel. However, there will still be gas and burning powder that will come out the muzzel. The problem is finding blanks for the older milsurps. There area a few places on the net that you can find modern produced blanks but they are more for re-enacting. You will most likely find these in German and American Calibers.

If you have a gas operated Milsurp you will need a Blank Firing Adaptor inorder for the rounds to feed properly.

"...can milsurps fire blanks?..." Yep. Whether or not the rifle needs a BFA(Blank Firing attachment) depends on the rifle. A semi-auto does or you get a single shot, straight pull, bolt action. As mentioned, blanks aren't exactly common.
Just remember that even with blanks, a rifle is still a firearm. Screwing around with one in the back yard or anywhere else will get you a visit from the local constabualry.

Ah, thanks for the lights up. Sorry not be be specific I meant bolt action rifles like the Nagants and Mausers. Are there blanks for these rifles? And thanks for mentioning, are there documents I need to fill to fire blanks, say in my backyard?

not a good idea to do in the back yard, not a good idea anywhere in the city, gun shots noices will have your neighbours calling 911 , then you will surrounded by ERT.

Buy some fireworks if you want to make some noise in your back yard.....nevermind, you need to be 18 to buy them......

Hi, thanks for the info. I'm just curious then if I want to have a reenactment then what kind of ammunition can I use for effects? I'd hate to resort to airsoft guns... Any help ?
