Hi Cap 22LR mags... can they be imported from the U.S.? True or False?

This one (taken directly from their web site):

"High Cap Mags:

Domestic Sales - Please check with your state regulations for ownership of High Capacity magazines.

International Sales - High capacity Magazines, which hold more than 10 rounds of ammunition, are currently Restricted items that can ONLY be sold internationally to Military or Law Enforcement agencies. We will ask for Proof of end-user through the DSP-83 form. "
 
What if we got Butler Creek or Remington, or any other U.S. manufacturers of .22 hi-cap mags, to pin the mags to ten rounds so that they can be exported?

Just remove the pin upon recieving the mags, and off to the races you go.

Thanks CS. That's a new one. Brownells follows the law to the letter -however, they're still one of the few companies that still exports to Canada.

the last time we had this BS- during the Clinton reign of terror- mags over 10 rounds had to be marked either "for LE use" or "for export only " - it seems they have now closed the export door.

wonder what we will get after BHO is uinaugurated?

Go to Bownells web site and do a search for hi cap Butler Creek 10/22 mags. Click on the Hi Cap Mags link to the right of the price under the column called "More Info". This message comes up. So it seems like its for rimfire to me.

Edit: I just called them. The particularly unfriendly guy said when I asked if they shipped them to Canada anymore "no apparently not".....great....sigh....

So they don't but TI will ship when they have stock, but they won't if they are back ordered. We are up the creek here gents....

I wish a dealer would chime in on this.....

There have been several threads on this but I will add my 2 cents. We were advised by all of the ditributors a few months ago that the hi cap 22 magazines(completely legal in Canada) were not going to be allowed export from the USA to Canada. They would only allow the export of mags with already approved export permits but no new permits would be approved. We bought as many mags as we could get our hands on but obviously the price was higher at the wholesale level (supply and demand) and thus our retail price went up as well. We still have some in stock but when they are gone I don't expect to see them again. Phil.

Wait until that seller gets caught and charged with exporting without a permit. It will cost him at least $1,000 per mag that he has exported, plus his legal fees. It seems that for smaller firearm related items, scopes etc, $1,000 per item is the rate that the Department of State has accepted as a fine.
 
Working on a supply of 10/22 high cap mags. Actual number is still up in the air but your interest will help the negotiations.
