Hey. I'm new to this board, and recently I've been quite intrested in getting my licensing.

I used to target shoot with a .22 caliber, it took the LR rounds. They were old WWII rifles converted. I did this for about 6 - 7 years while I was a member of Air Cadets. When I started I got very intrested in firearms, and target shooting, but I never got my own license to own and shoot my own firearms.

I've been trying to figure out the process to recieve my restricted license. I want to collect/shoot pistols, along with rifles. I'm intrested in shooting long distances with a scope. I don't understand exactly how the license process works, and what license you need/course to do what. I know to recieve a restricted license, you need to take the CRFS exam, and to do that you gotta have to pass the CFS exam. But I don't understand exaclty what the PAL licnse is for, and I heard there's a FAC license. Could someone explain this to me please?

Also, just one more thing. Can you buy firearms online, and does anyone know any good sites on the net to look at firearms/research firearms?

you can contact Ross,at 902-491-4930. he teaches the r-pal course at the old vocational school in dartmouth. there may be a closer location, he can let you know for sure. there is a great club in dartmouth (Alantic marksman assoc.) and one in kentville.(Avssc.)
 
Welcome reesezx10r and you can get guns from members of this site once you get your rpal.I got two from members and one from Freedom Ventures(see ad top of page).Good luck.:50cal:
 
we are doing a course at NSCC in Bridgewater next weekend not sure if it's filled yet and a restricted in Feb, if you don't want to travel check with the NSCC campus in the valley they should be able to tell you when there will be one out there

Welcome aboard! In terms of your courses you should sign up for the CRFSC (taught in dartmouth at the NSCC) so that you can own restricted firearms such as pistols, then you can go to the post office and ask for the firearms license forms. Fill them out and send in the necessary information and the government should send you your RPAL (restricted possession and acquisition license). I am sure you know from reading that the PAL (possession and acquisition license) took over the old FAC (firearms acquisition certification), so you need a PAL.

Also if you are looking for a place to shoot rifles, pistols and possibly longer range with a rifle and scope then try checking out the NSRA (nova scotia rifle association) we have a beautiful range near rawdon and a bunch of great guys to help you with all of the shooting disciplines. We are on the web. Also a lot of the guys at nsra are or were military at some point so you may be able to relate with them.

Hey Bro.... I used to work in Kentville for almost 8 years, now in Yarmouth with work... If you call the Annapolis Valley Shooting Club and leave a message for John Robinson, he can most likely hook you up on when they will host another locally.... They usually hold them at the club... he's cool and should be able to hook you up!
