Hi I am new to gun community! getting my Restricted in two weeks and interested in a little bit of everything hunting and target shooting/ long range shooting would like to know what .30 calibre is best for long range like 1000 meters out and brand should i get on a smaller budget.......thanks! and yes i am a machinist as well......

best 30 cal out to 1000 meters on a smaller budget ?? ouch that a tough combination... my 2 cents .. a savage 10 FP in 308 that should be in the $700-750 range.

Read through the Precision Rifles Section and if you don't find what you are looking for this will be a good thread for you to post... "on a smaller budget" is the kicker....

do you already have a hunting rifle ?

Well no guns yet nor a hunting rifle yet.....I have been looking at the remm 700p for 1250 ish in .308 BUT open to ideas and peoples thoughts....
