Hi-Point .45 - Updated with dissasembly pictures

Man that is one FUGLY pistol. Did it come with a barf bag? LOL

Your review was what I had expected you get what you pay for......never had a factory GLOCK out of the box fail on me. Break-in period???? Maybe???? But I don't see this gun being built tight enough to warrant a break-in period.

Ugly as anything yet affordable and lots of cool accessories to get for them including carbine adaptors.

they sell down here used for around $75.00 to $125.00.

Its 260 and you can get a Norinco 1911 for close to 300 and at least the Norinco is all steel, and a super hard steel at that. I'd rather something chinese then a bubba joe handgun.

But...

Great job Kodiak for bringing in something new and bless the hearts of those willing to take something as ugly as that home.

You make a good point.

I don't know if this gun needs a "break in" period or not. I will say that from the first round to the last one, the gun loosened up quite a bit. When I got it, it was fairly hard to rack. By the end of the session, it was quite easy. I even noticed it in the magazines. The first handful were a pain to load and by the end they were going in quite nicely.

This gun isn't of "Glock" quality and it would be a lopsided comparison. But for what it is, it does it's job.

If it's job is looking ugly while going bang.:D

I presume from what you say , that they are too
cheap to inlude a manual?
Looks like it would be a good gun for some one
that wants a gun, but hardly does any shooting.

Sorry -edit

I've read good reviews about them. In terms of money for the value it seems to add up. Also, the more variety we can get into the market place the more retailers have to compete with one another for sales. A big + for us gun nutz. thanks for sharing your review. long live cheap ugly guns that give us our money's worth. I have one reserved. Thanks Kodiakpost!

Ugly or not this is good for gun owners, thanks to Kodiak, I've got my eye on one of those SA .22 they are selling, like to see a review on one of those as well.

Update on the warranty:

I've spoken to a rep at Hi-Point. At this time, any warranty repairs must be sent back to the factory in America. The factory cannot export directly back to Canada. However, if one was inclined it would be possible to send the gun through an American exporter to get it back to Canada. There would be significant hassles with this process, but it is technically doable.

In a nutshell, the warranty will be honored but getting the gun to America and back will be a significant effort. This is the latest information I have.
