Hi-Point .45 - Updated with dissasembly pictures

Update on the warranty:

I've spoken to a rep at Hi-Point. At this time, any warranty repairs must be sent back to the factory in America. The factory cannot export directly back to Canada. However, if one was inclined it would be possible to send the gun through an American exporter to get it back to Canada. There would be significant hassles with this process, but it is technically doable.

In a nutshell, the warranty will be honored but getting the gun to America and back will be a significant effort. This is the latest information I have.

Any chance that you could slide a few of your stock off to the side as a source of spare parts? Or get a set of spares from the maker so there's a stock here in Canada? I'm sure that the buyers would not complain about a $5 or $10 hike in the price if it means they have a ready source of spares here north of the border. I'd call that excellent insurance if I was buying one and happily pay up a "spare parts surcharge".

Me? Buy one? Sorry, I thought Glocks were fugly. But these have set the bar to a whole quantum level higher.... :puke:

I'm drooling over the 327 PC on the website though......

Technically doable and cost more than the money you paid for it in the first place. I agree with the earlier poster - just replace it and keep the old one for a "gun amnesty" :) Or, since they look like they were made in an Afghan cave, you could invent a backstory for it, deactivate it (further) and mount it on the wall.

Don't be hating just because your all jealous.

Not everyone can be a playa. Most of you aren't cut out for it. But don't worry, I'll fire a round sideways for you all that aren't gangsta enough to do it yourselves.

I like what I was told on a US gun board

"Just hold it sideways and yell GET SOME every third round".

Then he figured out I was Canadian and the story changed too:

"Just hold it sideways and yell GET SOME, EH! every third round".

LOL, that is funny.

But I agree with having a contingency of spare parts. I'm sure the added value would boost your sales. In turn maybe you could go back to the hi-point and say look it boosted my sales, re-imburse me or work something out with them. It is kind of arbitrary that you would likely have to do away with a whole gun because you didn't have access to a cheap part. I assume the parts are cheap because of the price of the gun.

It's kind of the Jennings J22 of .45's...I wouldn't be surprised if the same people made it.

A little short on style for me, plus that no take down feature sucks...but still, for the price, and made in the good ol' USA too...I'd take it over the top of the line Norinco.

For the few bucks it costs, I'm getting one just to mod it. At this price, chopping/trimming/painting & otherwise dicking with it won't bother me anywhere near as much as it would to do the same on my M&P, for example....
One question, does anyone know if the mag floorplate can be trimmed. Right off the bat, having a flat-bottomed mag would help in the looks department.

Still nicer looking than a Tokarev.

Besides, it could pass for a non-offensive looking Crosman BB air pistol...except when you pull the trigger! Imagine the disbelief when a crook is laughing and thinking "ha ha you can hurt me with one of those....BOOM!"

YOU NAY-SAYERS ARE ALL DRIVING ME UP THE WALL!!!

I'm ordering mine this morning, in .45. My mission will be to transform this admittedly less-than-pretty handgun into one which inspires ohooo's & ahhhhh's from all you negatively-minded bastards. And I intend to do it for pennies :D

Matter of fact, I think I'll start a thread entitled "How to transform a Hi-point into a graceful swan". Or, if it goes badly, mebbe "How to blow your hand off while modding a firearm".

At least I'm not paying $700 for a Glock, which, next to the Hi-point of course, has gotta be the butt-ugliest pistol I know of.... ;)

PS: After posting pics of the finished product, I'll be expecting written apologies from all nay-sayers addressed both to myself and Kodiac. To be posted here on GunNutz, of course. :)
