i just aquired a second hand Mk 3 Hi-Power. i tore it apart tonight and put it back together, and i think i did it wrong. i pull the trigger and the hammer stays cocked, and i cannot engage the safety. what did i do wrong?

wooh! I hope it doesnt do the thing like the Ruger's do....put a certain part at a certain place and your gun is scrap...I dont know about you but...rugers are known for that...oh and being shaking after a few 500 rounds (all parts get loose....)

yes mag was in the gun, and all i did stripping wise was a basic take down, slide & barrel, thats it. it was functioning fine prior to take down, thats why i think it's me and not the gun.

your right,,if you put the barrel where the magazine is supposed to go, it wont work, its scrap.. rugers do that.:rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes:
 
You might have the recoil spring and guide upside down. The recoil guide/spring assembly should be parallel to the barrel but can be inserted upside down. The retaining pin must locate in the spring guide correctly.

done that bout 15 times already, and i am inserting the recoil spring and guide correctly. just a thoughtt, it is a new Wolff spring, can tht be fftecting it? i wouldn't think so, since it has nothing to to with the trigger mech, but i've been wrong before
 
Looks like someone unloaded a gun with problems(don't worry your not allone, it happend to me with a hp too, not the same problem however).

Is the mag disconect still intact? Maybe someone tryed to remove it and messed it up. I wonder if there is a walkthrough to compleatly strip the pistol down to ever little part and you can inspect it for damage ect?
 
What I would recommand is to verify all step of the firing sequence individually.
First, when the slide is removed and the hammer is cocked,with no mag in, push down the piece of metal in front of the hammer (the one that goes from the hammer to where the magazine ends) however, keep control of your hammer, you may hurt yourself a bit if you don't.

If that work properly, play with the magazine safety, you should see a difference with pressure on or without, if you don't, that your problem right there.

If it not 1 of the above, something is wrong with you trigger mechanism. :runaway:

wel lafter a taking it down and putting togther a few times last night, idi it again today and no more problem. i have no idea, why it works now, maybe i just needed to walk away from it for a day
 
well good thing it is working again, here's an idea. while you have it working, unload that eye sore piece of crap to some other sucker and trade it in for a nice gun (1911). Springfield 1911 loaded stainless. No problems with them and they are ###y.
