Hello all, like everyone else I have been deciding what pistols to grab befpre the ban. I had a few that I have wanted for a while but found myself out of nowhere drooling over hi powers.... I have been a glock and mnp9 guy for a while and loved but couldnt afford higher end 1911's. Now I cant stop looking at the hi power and hi power clones.

My budget was pretty skinny so I ended up pulling the trigger on a "tisas" or Dominion arms clone and am hoping to work on it over time. From what I have read the turkish clones have been known to destroy their springs over 2000 rounds or so. I have been able to find a few parts here and there, but the spring kits from bh solutions and parts from cylinder and slide dont seem to be on anyones website. While I am going to keep looking around and making phone calls, I have always gotten good advice or alternatives on these forums.

So I am hoping someone here has worked on a few hi powers and might have some insight or suggestions. I am hoping to improve the trigger, replace all the major springs as well as the hammer. So if anyone knows where to find aftermarket parts for these guns chime in. Or feel free to twll me about the work youve done to your own hi power.

Thanks,
Justin.

Order the gunsmithing tools and springs box or if you have the tools already, gunsmithing springs box from BH Spring Solutions. They won't sell to you directly but call Prophet River and their US partner can buy for you. Only took about 1 month to get them too. You can also go to Numrich for parts but the boxed spring sets are the best bargain. There are a number of spring weights. You can use the following to get most of your money,

32 hammer/ 15 recoil
30 hammer/17 recoil
26 hammer/18.5 recoil.

There's 4 sets of springs in the box (costs 98$ USD), their single spring set costs about $35 so get the box for savings. This gives you 12 changes of hammer and recoil spring, the other springs usually should last longer. BH Spring Solutions do offer parts but are a bit pricier than numrich.

Having a spare doesn't hurt, I have six right now.

If you want parts, you have to be willing to pay exporter to get them for you. BH spring solutions will not sell directly to Canadians. Neither will Wolff springs. Numrich will sell to you. Prophet River's partner should be able to order Cylinder and Slide stuff for you. Just contact their partner and give them list of stuff you want, they order and prepare paperwork for you. Very easy, order lots to make import fee worthwhile.

For quick trigger improvement, remove magazine safety. You may want to replace 32 lb hammer spring with 30 or 26 lb one and that will also reduce trigger pull. I would check out videos on BH spring solutions about balancing recoil spring to compensate, the chart I gave is short cut for that.

I’ve ordered through Brownell’s in the past with good results. They normally have Wolff spring kits available.

Like Gundoggy, I have removed the mag disconnect from my guns. Didn’t find much difference in trigger pull, but prefer being able to drop the hammer without a magazine in.

Better “mike” the parts to see if they are the same
To be safe, get the part’s from the gun distributor.
There weren’t that many manufacturers who made a
deal with FN to make HP’s outside of Government Contracts
Inglis was licenced to make HP’s only until the War ended,
then , a new deal had to be made if they wanted to continue to make
them

Thanks for all the great responses, i am absolutely going to call prophet river tomorrow and put an order together from bh spring solutions. I love that they say what models the parts are compatible with.
