Forecast is for warm with only small chance of showers but winds gusting to 90 km/hr. Think that might affect some of the presentations? :rolleyes:

I am not going to give up a range trip just because of a few downed trees. Don't have to worry about power lines because the whole club is off grid.

Looking forward to the experience, but pretty sure I won't be keeping score. ;)
 
Wind adds to the challenge, but I avoid certain targets on our course, because they strike the trees , and don't make it to where I can shoot them. As well, at 90km, even your body will get pushed around.
 
Wasn't much there as it turned out. Overcast and calm - about 12 degrees. Birds cooperated and fundamentals are beginning to haul me out of that slump. Life is good!

Full environmental assessment was done including lead concerns. Short version is that a degree of acidity is required for leaching - and that is absent in this location. No leaching exists. Did I mention tree planting. DU waterfowl habitat. Biodegradable birds? Gamebird release?

Environment is not just marketing at Silver Willow. The Day family lives the concept.

Ouch! Disclaimer - I'm no expert and the env. engineers that evaluated Silver Willow are way above my pay grade.

I see Thunder Bay as your location and I seem to recall from younger years that Northern Ontario was a hotbed of the acid rain issue - mostly from power plants in the US I think. Southern Ontario wasn't so bad with the limestone base, but the granite of the Canadian Shield offered no buffering at all. I'm not sure if that has changed. It would be an issue for sure with lead.

You could certainly try an email to silver willow. They are fiercely proud of what they have built but the lead containment may be more good luck than good planning. I recall the engineers presenting their assessment at county council and it was detailed and comprehensive. I don't know if SW would share that information with you (or even if it would be helpful), but it might be worth a try.
