Hiawatha .22lr

I have a hiawatha .22lr thats kinda been passed down as a training/plinking gun in my family.
I know that Hiawatha was the name of the guns made by Savage and sold by gambles.
I'd like to find a manual for the rifle but the only thing stamped on it is
"HIAWATHA 1945"

does anyone have information on this rifle?

Try here: http://www.savagearms.com/downloads.htm, and if you can't find it, you should call Savage customer service. Savage has been re-organized several times, so a paper copy of the manual may not exist.

My Cooey Firearms Historical Arms Series book says that Hiawatha
was made by Cooey.

I had lots of "HIAWATHA" in my collection but none had 1945 stamped. I wonder if its someone else than Cooey. If you post a pic we'll tell you in a heartbeat----Cowboy

This is true but also Hiawatha was a popular name for many firearms that came out of the states. Gambles beeing only one. So this may not be a "COOEY". Sure like to see a pic of the gun , action and bolt-----Cowboy
