I recently inherited a shotgun and it's a Hiawatha 16 gauge I believe, just a single shot. Trying to find out some info on it but can't seem to find much, looks pretty old. Thought I would give you gunnuts a try! The only numbers stamped on it is 71656 any info would help thanks guys ! Would like to know how old it is.

There were two Hiawatha single shotguns, one a Cooey manufacture for Marshall Wells I think, and the other a Stevens made gun. Need a picture to confirm your firearm.

Here are some pics sorry for delay...

I have a Hiawatha 410 exactly like the one in the photos above, s/n 4299X. Wood is excellent, most of the bluing is gone. What year would it have been made and its approx value?
Thank you!

Could be anywhere from 1948 to 1961 or whatever the contract was with MacLeods during that time period. With most of the bluing gone, yet excellent wood, one would guess that the wood has been refinished. Value would be anywhere from $100.00 to $150.00 depending on the buyer. If it had it's bluing, and possibly original wood finish, value could be around $200.00-$225.00

Last issue of "Caliber" magazine had a decent review and history write up
on the Cooey beginning and such.
Worthy of a read and maybe keeping this issue for a keeps sake.
