So now that I have your reviews on the 14" NEA barrel .... thanks so much all of you for passing along your experiences... I would like to hear your reviews on the 12.5" barrel of Chinese origin sold by Hical. Thanks all!

Here is the jist of the Chinese barrels.

1 - They 99% of time fit right out of the box with no issues at all.

2 - Sometimes the bead is off centred. I have seen this on more than a few of the barrels. Mostly I think on the 12.5".

That's about it.

If you can get one, I say do it and shoot in good health.

Thanks all for the feedback... I have ordered this barrel from Hical and I will provide feedback on it once I receive it. I know there is a great amount of interest in it.

I had one on an 870 last year - dropped in fine, worked perfectly and was quite accurate at 60 yards with slugs, what more could I ask for? - About 1.5 inches, the 12.5 is (to me) just a tiny bit too short. I'd love to see the Chinese produce a 14, it's pretty much the sweet spot for tac shotgun barrels. The US Border Patrol did a ton of testing before they chose 14 inch barrels for their patrol shotguns.

I received my 12.5" barrel from Hical and here is what I found:

- Cosmetics: barrel had many (about 6) scratches and markings on the blueing... not gouged metal, only in the blueing... quite bad actually and unexpected for a barrel in supposed new condition.
- Fit: barrel fit easily into receiver without any modifications
- Function: feeding shells from mag into barrel I experienced no issues at all... functions fine. Ejecting unfired shells I also had no issues. I have not fired the gun with barrel yet so cannot comment on how it ejects spent shells.

The only issue I had was with the cosmetics. Not sure why a new barrel was shipped to me in that condition? Having said that, I cleaned the barrel thoroughly and reblued it with several coatings and the finished result is a blueing that I am happy with.

Overall, the barrel is just fine and is great for the price and for a pack/truck gun. You may have to do some cosmetic work to it if you want a nice blueing. For me, it will do just fine.

Thanks for the review. When I buy a Chinese gun, I'm really not that worried about how it looks, if it functions well, that's what I'm paying for. I also fully expect that a polishing and smoothing on internals and some external spots may be needed.

Glad you got your's blued the way you like. Any pics of the bluing before you worked on it?
