High end milsurps on the EE - No pictures in the ad?!

Navy Shooter, I am one of those older members that is barely computer literate.

I've tried setting up a photobucket account to post pics and have failed miserably every time.

When I post a WTS ad, I always include an offer to send as many pics as the peruser would like and from every angle.

One thing about doing it that way, is the people are usually serious when they make a request for pics.

I like to see the pics as well but being computer illiterate, I won't likely be posting many soon.

Most of the real collector stuff will never show up here in pictures. High end collector's know each other and trade among themselves. ie Picture's of collector grade M1 Garand's get compared to the new made imports. Everyone wants to buy the new one's over the original military issue. So collector grade M1 garands will stop listing here and sell elsewhere.

On-line selling firearms over the Internet has become more of a risk in the last few years, with warnings such as the one in the pic being published by the RCMP here in Canada. I almost got scammed here early last year by a seller with something too good to be true, but I was smart enough to do some serious checking first.

We had some scammers and other fraudulent activity reported, so we replaced our WTS forum styled environment with a more secure approach to protect buyers and sellers, assuming they choose the option to be protected, which they aren't forced to. So far, it's worked well although the "old" farts like me do complain the simple "post a thread" approach was easier for them to handle. Like anything in life, once people get used to it, it's not a lot different than the old way.....

Make sure you check the iTrader Ratings of a seller on here before you get too far ... ;)

Even pics are some times deceiving its the new guys that see and grab without question I know when I went on a spree I got buggered up, only one gun but it moved me to re finish it so it looks nicer! I'm not complaining:) pic are a must but if the seller can't actually post them then the offering of email is nice, but on the same point it's nice for new guys to see a pic or condition of a gun or milsurp and know a general asking value, I don't want to bother someone if I'm simply curious, lot of guys get ticked off with that approach " no tire kickers" there are threads that tell you how to post pictures, and if that doesn't work most guys on here would help out, IMHO pics are a must even if its one or two to give you a general idea of the gun, especially for the guys asking big bucks for guns, shipping included on big ticket items would be nice, if I just spent 1500 bucks I'm sure your not crying to cover some shipping, I spent 2000 on rifles Abd the seller did give me one hell of a deal on shipping

Couldn't agree with you more Steve. In fact I just emailed a seller for photos of a rifle on EE. The seller is asking $2,500 (which is probably $500+ above market) so I'm expecting to be amazed by this once in a lifetime buying opportunity. And what do I receive? - a batch of low res photos that didn't come close to providing me the information that I needed to guage the quality and value of the piece and an apology. I generally include 4 to 6 good photos and say more detailed photos available upon request. Don't understand what the hell some of these sellers are playing at. Your add is a solicitation to do business. If you can't figure out how to upload some respectable photos take a bit of time to figure out how to do it. Take notes. Get your kids or grandkids to help if you need to. Another thing I'm seeing a bit more of is sellers relisting because their purchaser didn't follow through with the transaction. Not sure what if anything can be done about this (other than providing negative feedback) but I'd like to see repeat offenders suspended or even removed from the EE if warranted. Thanks, I feel much better now...
