High end rimfire rifles? What scopes do you use?

Leupold VX II 4-12X40 AO on CZ 452 American CZ rings
Mueller 8-32X44 SF on CZ 452 Varmint CZ rings
Sightron III 10-50X60 SF fine crosshair with target dot on CZ 453 Lux BKL 301 rings

The Mueller is super for the price and I highly recommend it but it looks they have now raised it on Amazon by several hundred, I would be happy with just this one. The Leupold would be great for hunting but under-powered for my eyes.

The Sightron is amazing and the cross hairs are very fine so I am glad I got the target dot which helps me quite a bit. Highly recommend the BKL rings and would stay away from the CZ rings with their slotted screws that mar so easily and look terrible and CZ will not send screws to Canada ..

Lol, here I will provide a spacial reference.

The target I use the innder circle is .500
The 2nd ring is 1 inch
The 22 bullet diameter is .222

I measure from the farthest point to farthest point on each group.
Take that number, minus .222
The result is the groups total distance from center of all bullet impacts.

I know I use a cheap CT micrometer, that is what they came out at. Trust me the picture makes the groups look worse then they are... Here is a reference for the target I used.

They may not be Bench rest competition standards but they are definitely as close as you can get them.

I dont print my home made targets on the nice thick, no rip paper they use in competition.

I will be glad to go shoot some more groups. Scan it, send it to you. So then you can print it out and measure.

You need to readjust zero it if you look on the graduation marks on the ruler it's about .520

Remington 40XB Weaver T36
Anschutz 1416 Bushnell 4200 6-24
CZ455 Varmint Leupold BR36
CZ455 American Bushnell 6500 2.5 - 16
Ruger 10/22 Bushnell TRS-32 red dot and scoped with a Burris Fullfield II 4.5 - 14 Ballistic Plex.
BSA Martini Int'l Mk II PH target sights but the BR36 has also been used.

Those measurements aren't even close

Ya just noticed this? Sorry CK, but I am in agreement with 22forever. Remember when I PM'ed you about some dimensions on your targets a few weeks ago? Sly fox that I am, you didn't realize I was double checking your measurements. But, since you were happy to have your rifle shooting well after the snafu with the first Tactical Trainer barreled action, I didn't wanna burst your bubble and kept it to myself. From the get go, your measurements have never looked quite right to my eye, and here you're nearly 0.100" off on most of the groups. Your largest group nearly fits two full bullet widths between the inner edges of the furthest apart shots, I had that pegged at being in the 0.6's by eye...

Well, trivial banter about the precision of group measurements aside, I still think you're shooting pretty well with the new Annie.

I zero it out before every use. From the picture you can see the teeth dont go straight in to the ruler part. Even at 0.000 when the teeth are together. The whole 0 is visible on the ruler part.

Not to mention when I measure the 22lr bullet it was .222

15 dollar CT micrometer what am I going to do. (likely buy a better micrometer)

What is that program you are using ? It seems like something I would find useful!

For the record, I have no problem someone calling out my groups. Just do as rabid did and show me. I guess close is relative term.

The pictured Leupold VX2 3-9X33 EFR CDS is my all time favorite rimfire scope, it's not "high end" but it's a perfect little scope. For me it's a must that any rimfire scope for general purposes can focus down to 25 yards or less.

For more target oriented work, the aforementioned 6.5-20X40 EFR will make more sense, and the Sightrons are probably worth a look. Everyone will have their own personal preferences!

Is that a Kimber ???
Leupold all day and everyday.
Been to cheap to try something else of late.

For the longest time I had a Vortex Diamondback 2-7x35mm rimfire scope on my 455 American in CZ rings. Recently switched that over to a 4.5-14x50mm Zeiss Conquest, side parallax and target turrets. Works amazing on the rifle, and sits about 5-10mm above the barrel in the CZ rings. I'm thinking however I'm going to switch to something else for the 455 as I want to move the Conquest onto my SR22 I'm building for plinking at a distance. The 455, with only a Yodave trigger, made it real easy shooting groundhogs out to 200 yards last weekend, but am thinking I'd rather have it set up for a sub-50 yards hunting rifle instead. We'll see.

Surprised I'm not seeing more guys with Zeiss scopes here. Why is that? The turrets an issue?

There is the bushnell option as well. I Just picked up a Bushnell AR 223 3-9x40 BDC for $199.99. Has 1/4 MOA open target/tactical reset-able zero turrets, and side parallax adjustment. Sure this BDC is calibrated for .223 but doesn't matter for me. They have a 3-7 .22 BDC reticle or other higher powered .223 scopes. It will topping my new custom "Scoped Mapleseed" rifle and I fell like it will be just fine for me out to 50y and beyond most likely.

^^^I was actually considering a Bushnell AR 223 4-12x40 for a rimfire bolt-action.....not concerned the BDC is not calibrated for .22lr but for the price and features it looks decent.

I am very pleased with it so far. Though I have yet to start slinging lead with it yet as I am awaiting a new trigger group to arrive this week. But I have spent a pile of time looking through it and have no complaints on the quality of glass for the amount paid. I am not planning on trying to put 1/4MOA groups on paper from a 100y away. But to be hitting a 4" round plate at that distance would suit me just fine.

I edited the title to be more clear. I would rather spend less if you guys are getting great results with less expensive optics on your higher end 22s.

Then why spend more for a "higher end" rifle... when a Savage would do the same job?
Unless you are strapped for cash (and want to shoot that rifle NOW), wouldn't it be better/cheaper to buy a nice scope to go on a nice rifle... then buying a cheaper, to later upgrade?

I use a sightron s11 big sky on my ani and a weaver grand slam on my cz varmint. both 6x24. if I was going to replace either I would be looking for a 36x as both are just used for range.

The Benchrest 10/22 has a Sightron SIII 8-32x (very happy with this scope):

The Anschutz MPR has a Sightron SII 6-24x (would like to upgrade to the SIIBig Sky 6-24x) :

The DPMS .22 bull barrel upper has a Bushnell Rimfire 6-18x (budget scope, but has been decent enough to buy another, see below):

The 10/22 TD with target barrel also has a Bushnell Rimfire 6-18x:
