So I need a little education on redoing the blued finish on one of my rifles.
For context it’s a Weatherby Vanguard Deluxe that originally came with a really high gloss deep blued finish.
It came to me with a considerably flatter finish than I expected; I think a chemical and/or steel wool or something similar might have done it so I want to restore it to what it was.
So my question is to attain this final result is all hot bluing the same and is the level of deepness or black completely subject to the level of polishing on the metal?
I can definitely get it in a state of high polish as I’ve done a lot of it over the years with excellent results but I’d like to know if I have to source a specific method of bluing to achieve what I’m after…and who might be recommended to do it.
Thanks in advance,
