I am looking for the following type of scope:

High magnification (say 6-24 or 8-32 variable)
One inch tube
40 mm objective
ability to focus at 20 m

I have a CZ452 with 1" (high) rings. Currently has a 3-9x40 VX1 on it but this will not focus on the target at 20m

With this scope on, there is very little room between the objective lens and the barrell, so a 44 mm or bigger objective will not fit.
I dont want to get different rings if i can help it (not that there are rings any higher anyway)

Anyone have any suggestions on a scope that will do this?

Thanks

That is a very tight requirement. One inch tube and high magnification don't get along well, and if your going less than 50mm objective lense, then your vision quality at 20x magnification will be horrible.

Just get new rings. By getting 30mm rings with a higher stance your already a thousand times better. That means better transfer of light, and larger light intake to actually support high magnification.

My 2c,

Wes

See if you can find a E6241 Bushnell Elite.(6-24x40)
Very clear and will focus down to 10yds.
Its an older model but they are still out there.
Love mine.(but it is a long scope)

I'll be the guinea pig........going to put this on a 452 for giggles......

for a few bucks more you can go with the mueller 8-32, except for the fact that it has a 30mm tube, I have steel 30mm dovetail rings with 1 inch inserts that I will be trying......they better work as I have about 40 sets of them

Even 6-18 or 5-20 would do.
But need 40mm or it won't fit.

Just for indoor .22 at 20 m

But I can't see the targets now because scope won't focus

6.5-20 x 40 VX 3 EFR. (Extended focal range)

They are set up to focus and be parallax-free down to air rifle ranges.

If it's in the budget, this is the answer. The VX-2 rimfire EFR for lower magnification, and the VX-3 6.5-20 EFR for higher magnification.
There are Bushnell and Sightrons that will do short range with AO as well, but my personal preference would be the Leupold.
