Took it out to the range not with high expectations. I have spent a lot more and have gotten less. Its a heavy fat carbine, although well built. The iron sights are USER Friendly, the mag loads easy, the charging handle is short but Racks strong. Never had ANY cycling issues all day. It spit the brass out without damaging it. The gun just functions like it should.! It took a bit of time to set the iron sights in,...elevation was easy, windage was not. I soon learned,..sight these rifles in at 50 yards not 25 and it will go a lot faster.
Accuracy at 50y was ridiculously easy,"8x7inch metal plate" zero problems, took no effort.
Accuracy at 100y was ok with 14x14 metal plate anything smaller was a challenge. Seemed to get flyers at 100y. I use to own a 9mmJust right carbine and It is kinda whimpy compared to the High point 45 . I get a fairly stout recoil as well, "was not expecting that"The gun feels good and sturdy in the hands of the shooter, and you get "that bigger Carbine feel" from it,..I like it. I absolutely like the 45 carbine over the 9mm. Do not be afraid to buy one of these,..they function 100%, Very cheap price, fun and accurate to shoot, and you don't seem to loose interest in its hard hitting power,..it just feels good. I bought this on a whim, and I'm glad I did. The Pistol mags hold 9 rounds, 1 in chamber =10. This would be a good choice for 3-gun.

Update- went back to the range and hammered another 300 rounds through it.100%
I set an 8 inch round target up at 100yards....1 out of 5 bullets would hit at that distance. Once again ..flyers
forget about putting a scope on,....the plastic rail moves and twists way to much. Accuracy good at 50,..random at 100.

I bought mine at Frontier Firearms .They are sold out already. They come in 9mm ,40 and 45. The mag for the 45 is a 9round ."uses pistol mag". The 9mm is 5 rounds because the 9mm hand gun is Not sold in Canada. Not sure about the 40. Its a cheap price for a good gun. This gun is NOT flimsy like some other pistol carbines. I really cant see the gun breaking, even if you threw it hard on the ground LOL. They are in SHORT supply as the americans bought them up when they couldn't find an AR Rifle. The High Point was kinda there 2nd choice. They were also used by U.S Law enforcement. "they must have some trust in the High point"
I got board with my 9mm Just Right carbine really quick, but I love this carbine and its Half the price. Only down side...its restricted....if it wasn't, it would probably be $999. This gun runs 100% and never jams and shoots any 45 ammo.

If it uses the same mags as the Hi-Point pistol, then regular 1911 mags can be used with a slight modification
to the mag holder opening on the right hand side. Just a couple of little cuts & bend it out.
There is at least one video on Utube. Plus the mags can be put back into a 1911 if desired.

I have one in 9mm. it's a blast to shoot. the mag is limited to 5 rounds. the 40 and 45 use pistol mags legal in Ca. The dis advantage is that it is a range gun. Yea it's ugly but it works To buy any carbine in a pistol cartridge. This is the best bang for the bucks, If you buy a Storm or a JR they are twice the money Check reviews on it. Nothing but good. Can't go wrong Hi-Point will ship to Ca if you have problems Congrats on your gun you will have alot of fun shooting it,

Needs a longer barrel.

One of these paired with a hi point pistol in the same calibre is quite the price difference compared to say a glock and a JR carbine. Too bad the 9mm pistol is prohib, a $250 9mm would be ridiculous, and then you don't have gimped mags in the carbine.

All and all it looks like a fun piece to have!

I had one of these and sold it, I wasn't crazy about the accuracy. Had a 1-3x scope on it and from a rest at 25m i was getting 3-4" groups. Using a 1x rds with a JR carbine I could get a group you could cover with a dime at the same distance. On the plus side it was reliable, i put 100's of rounds through it with zero malfunctions.

I have one in 9mm and it is an awesome gun for the money. I was messing around with mine at the range and shot a 1.5" group at 50 meters with factory 147gr ammo. Photo available for skeptics. It is very accurate and a lot of fun. The only downside as stated above is the 5rd mag limit for the 9mm and the fact that if the barrel was a smidgen longer it would be NR. I had a friend who bought one in .40 S&W and his was great too. He sold his and still regrets it. Everyone who see's mine wants to shoot it. Sure its a fugly beast but its cool and fund to shoot. I got mine at Prophet River.

I think they are a fine gun. I had NO issues with mine. Its accurate and it works and its a BLAST to shoot...BUT ITS NOT WORTH A DAM THING WHEN YOU GO TO SELL IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Had mine advertised 3 different times. I never got ONE decent offer !! That's really a shame, especially when you see Junk like Keltec fetching 4 times its real value.
If you do buy one, be prepared to keep it.
