high point pistols

And that's just it.

The gun works and is reliable. Believe it or not, there are people in the US that carry these guns for protection.

If it came down to it, I'd rather have a Hi-Point then a nothing.

I agree, any gun is better than no gun. I'm still curious as to how many rounds constitutes reliable? Has anyone put a hi point through a course with a high round count like 1000 rounds over two days?

The mechanism is really simplistic.

If you wanted some really good advertisement, Kodiak, maybe you could send a test pistol to someone unbiased so they can drag it through the mud, etc... :D

It has to be massive in order to slow the recoil of the slide. Being a blowback system, it doesn't lock up, and uses the weight of the slide and a heavy spring to keep it closed until pressures drop to a decent level. By the sounds of your reply , you don't own one...
Well, of course I don't own one. Canadian "safe storage" laws would prevent me from utilizing it as a doorstop, which is the only appropriate use I can conceive for that pistol :p. Look up "pot metal" if you don't understand why it doesn't make for a good material to make guns out of.

...just like to rag on those who can't afford the same pistols that are in your gun locker. (me)
If you can't afford anything better than a Hi-Point, how do you afford .45ACP ammo? Or do you only shoot like a quarter of a box per year? Perhaps you should consider a more affordable hobby...

The gun has been around for a while now with many satisfied owners.
Seeing that most of them are in jail doing time on felony convictions I don't know how you managed to solicit the opinions of so many Hi-Point owners :p

Most of these people also wear a minimum of two pieces of headgear (simultaneously) and their pants at knee level. Hardly the folks you'd want to imitate, IMO :p.
