Myself, I love high powered black rifles. I have a safe full of them.
I'd say RFB .308 for ####ty ground and brush, after that XCR-M in .338 federal. I don't know if it's being produced yet but a new .338 Fed barrel is nothing a good smith can't turn.

If you get one don't cheap out on glass. Spend money on a quality scope.
So, does 13.75 pounds equal light weight these days??? You could certainly look at the Savage long range hunter in .338 Lapua, that would certainly penetrate any wild ungulate at pretty well whatever range you could hit it. The weight is only (I believe) about 9 pounds. You wouldn't get a picatinny rail forend, but you could certainly get one on the action.
