So I'm looking for people that have had or have some of the cheaper high power optics out there. The ones I'm talking about specifically are the
Tasco 6-24 Varmint

Tasco 10-40 Target

Bushnell 6-24 Banner

Bushnell 6-18 trophy

What were the problems if any with thses units. Fuzzy pic. poor adjustments. I'm looking at either the tasco or bushnell trophy. I have a 3-9 Trophy now and it seems alright. I have never peered through a 500 dollar scope before so maybe I don't know what I'm missing. I understand that you pay for what you get but I also believe there are a few low priced gems.

The gun it will be mounted on is my New Mossberg 30-06 ATR. This gun is great. It seems to shoot pretty good. I have gotten groups just over an inch at 100yds from a very poor rest. I now have bought a good rest and am hoping to shoot again soon once the weather gets better. The gun is similar to a Howa I believe. The trigger is a replica of the 1500's trigger and once I figure out haw to adjust it a little lighter should be good. This is my first gun too so again I havn't used the high end stuff but this one works so far. No yoted yet but with my new homemade caller I hope to have some soon.

Thanks,

I have a Tasco 10-40 ona heavy barrel .308 that i use for cast bullet testing with light loads.....it works okay but the optics are far from clear...I get more clarity at 32x than at 40x.....its the same old story...you get what you pay for.

I use a Tasco 10-40 on my target 308. It's an older model, not the new one made after Tasco was sold. Clarity is not like a Leupold but is enough for me.
I used it for the last 2 years and it always kept its tracking. The only thing I dislike : turret adjusment aren't alway precise (not always 1/8 moa).
This particular model doesn't have a lot of elevation adjusment. I want to try 1000m shooting this summer and I will have to change it or to use a base with 30 moa.
Be also warned that eye relief at high magnification is short. It may cause some painfull problems if your 30-06 is light and has heavy recoil.

I've got a Mueller 8.5-25x44mm AO Tactical on my 5.56x45, it has great clarity through all of the power ranges, and I find it has the perfect magnification range for a .223, but I don't know if you'd want to go that high with a .30-06, but either way, if you want want a good deal go with a Mueller, they also have a lifetime warranty.
