Does anybody know if there is another maker of High quality fiberglass stocks for BRNO 602/CZ550 magnums besides McMillan? Who makes the "kevlar" stocks that you can get from the CZ factory?

I read on the internet (so it must be true) that the CZ stocks are made by B&C, but you can only buy them through CZ cz-usa dot com

MPI makes stocks for the ZKK/CZ rifles, and supply AHR hunting-rifles dot com

From AHR's website........

Our SAFARI 550 DGR (Dangerous Game Rifle) features the CZ-550 Large Magnum action. Our BIG GAME 550 rifle features the CZ-550 standard action. All of our rifles are available with a premium walnut or fiberglass / Kevlar stock.

McMillan makes them for the Brno.

I once made the mistake of using B&C on a 416...Big mistake.

The 416 smashed the bedding surface to the point the barrel no longer pointed straight down the channel and the gun would no longer shoot any better than 3-4 inches. It happened in the first few shots.

Guntech did the bedding work so you can bet it was done perfectly. Dennis doesn't like them either...Ask him some time! ;)

Also the short grip on the B&C positioned my middle finger too close to the trigger guard....Close enough to smash a 1/4" piece of bone off my knuckle that floated around for a few years....You got to know that hurt!

Finally the big buttstock looks like a perfect design for recoil, but it is awful on a big gun. My 416 Rem was 8 pounds and most guys would only ever shoot it once....If at all.
I could shoot it ten times, but by then I was pulverized. After I discovered the pooched stock I had a McMillan installed..Exact same weight and what a difference. I could then (comfortably) shoot 20 rounds at a sitting.

Oh yes, the was rifle started shooting into about 3/4 inch with every reasonable load you fed it.

If you gave me a new B&C for free I would rather burn it than use it.

I don't know why you would want anything but the McMillan unless you've had some bad business dealings with them.
My ZKK-602 .416RM is at David Henry's shop right now for some work, including inletting and glass-bedding the action into a McMillan stock.
Can't wait to see it...

Just keeping my options open, as the mcmillan is a little pricey, but it sounds like not much has changed.....you get what you pay for! thanks for the info guys.

Slimbo,
I have read good reviews on the AHR stock over at the Accurate Reloading "Big Bore" forum.
That's why I suggested them.
No personal experience myself with their stock and I don't know their price or if they will ship to Canada.
