High speed .40 case guage

Here's what I came up with to speed up chamber checking. I just grab a hand full of rounds and drop them into the tapered end abd as long as nothing's bigger then .423" they fall out the bottom in to my ammo box.

I'am aware that the nominal rim diameter is .424 but I've not found one to be over .420, and that it doesn't check for head space, just the outside diameter of the brass.
 
Wouldn't you be worried about headspace as well? I've been loading 9mm recently and have several cases (that were at least once fired) go into my dillon case gauge fine on the diameter side, but too long.
 
A quick thot here;
Wouldn't a case that is 'too long' in a Dillion case
gage be a result of it standing off the brass's length
and not from a shallow seating deapth (long OAL) ?
