High-Standard Riot 18-7 K-120

I'm kind of new to the world of the shotgun ownership (even if i've shot quite a bit at the last EOHC ) and have some questions if you don't mind !

I got this shotgun in donation, High-Standard 18-7 K-120, from a friend (let's call him "silly" ) and i was wondering if it was related or similar to others companies shotguns to know if i can use their accessories.

The reason i'm asking is..I don't seem, after a quick look at google, that i can find much informations with this model name! So far, i'm looking at MAYBE changing the stock, repainting the whole gun with black duracoat or armacoat and...try to fix a bayonet the sweet thing for some silly reason like, "cool factor" !

Another thing i'd like to know is if there any kind of flaws in the design or what usually break in this kind of shotgun i should be looking for or i'm just even more lucky than i thought ?

Could a good soul help me a bit please ?

The High Standard K-120 Riot was a strong and sturdy shotgun with a steel receiver, 7 shots capacity, used in the 60s and 70s by various police force troughout north america, comparable to the Remington 870, and one of the slickest action i've ever seen.

Chambered for 2¾ shells only.

Unfortunately the barrel can't be removed, and since this shotgun is discontinued since the early 80s, theres not much accessories for it on the market now, maybe a plastic stock and forend from Choate but that's about it.

Me i would keep it stock, and thats what i did with mine

Another thing i'd like to know is if there any kind of flaws in the design or what usually break in this kind of shotgun i should be looking for or i'm just even more lucky than i thought ?

The only flaw I know if is, as McCoy stated, that the barrel cant be removed without serious gunsmithing...not sure if that's a 'design flaw' per se but I would consider that a drawback.

I'm not familiar with any aftermarket parts available for them either, but if you're going to duracoat it you can make it look however you like...

Hmm.... I like it. I think that I'd leave it as is. Pick up a Norinco or Grizzly if your looking for a cheap shotgun to "accesorize".

What a beautiful shotgun, it is the essence of conservative design; actually kind of like the Vietnam era Ithaca model 37 shotguns, It's 'made for business and no accessories are required son' sort of design.
