High Standard semi shotgun "sticking"

My retired friend Al has an old J.C. Higgins semi-auto shotgun that I'm certain is a High-Standard Model C 1200 or C 1211.

I'm itching to try a semi-auto shotgun and I'm sure he'll loan it to me but he says it "sticks" (fails to eject) with some loads.

He's had it for years I don't think he ever cleaned it, so I'll bet a thorough cleaning would make a world of difference.

Is there a schematic on the 'net or a book I can get somewhere that would walk me though that?

Anyone have one of these?

Make sure the chamber is clean, and that there's no gunk restricting the extractor claw movement. The best thing you can do for a gas semi is BreakFree CLP on the rings, piston, and mag tube. That caked on carbon will simply dissolve away as you shoot it 'wet'.
