What can someone tell me about these? A friend gave me a brick of Winchester Xpert HV "High Velocity" .22LR 36 grain ammo. Now before people start telling me winchester xpert rimfire ammo is crap, it's the BEST ammo I've run through my Savage Mark II so far in both accuracy and with the least amount of misfires (maybe 4 in 2000+ rounds).

So what is so different between the Winchester Xpert 36 grain .22LR ammo I normally run and this? On the box it states 1280 FPS in bold letters and NRA support all over the box.

Better or worse than the "normal" ammo I am currently shooting?

The silver box Xperts are higher velocity than the old white box.I think it is 60 fps faster as stated on the boxes. On numerous tests done between the two varieties, the silver box ones make a more noticable bang and seem to hit harder.Seems like Ohlin listened to peoples complaints about misfires, grittiness, and subsonic rounds in their white box Xperts and upgraded to something a bit better.

A general comment: checking the FPS on rimfire ammo is what originally made me fall in love with the Fed bulk-pack...:)... I was "running" slower stuff before and was pleasantly surprised at the improvement...:yingyang:...if your ammo is "free-ish" of of duds when the rim is hit (and if the firearm can feed the bullet-shape well too), higher FPS generally makes for a more pleasant experience!

One other note: Be aware that "double-charged" .22 LR has been know to come out of Winchester's doors.......:(
