I am in the market for a higher end rimfire, in .22 mag or .17 HRM,
Looking at Sako finfire II, Anschutz and a Volquartsen, as well as sum interest in the New CZ stainless 455.
Ive got a CZ 452 and 453, but took them to New Zealand, during the oil field slowdown, Excellent rifles,
The last two CZ rifles, I had have left a bit of a sour taste, CZ 455 .22 not very accurate, and a 527 in .221 fireball with poor feeding, from the Mag.
I've just replaced the .22 with a Browning SA-22 that I am very impressed with,:d and am looking at a second higher end rimfire, for longer range hunting, has anyone got any of the above, and whats your thoughts.
I am heading down south tomorrow, for a look,

How about building your own? I have built several 10/22 clones from parts I have purchased from Dlask Arms and Bits Of Pieces (Barry Jensen) both are Canadian companies based in B.C. The Dlask receivers are far better than the factory Rugers, he also carries Kidd products as well as his own barrel line and everything else needed to put together a tack driving .22. Bits of Pieces carry many after market 10/22 items as well as Green Mountain Barrels. Build your own, a lot of satisfaction there!

I have an Anschutz 1517 in .17 HMR and would highly recommend it. Mine is the lignter barrel but I think if I had the option I'd go for the heavier barrel, nothing wrong with mine mind you, I just like a bit heavier barrel. It's accuracy and finish are what your expect from an Anschutz.

Just sold a Sako P94 Finn fire at last gunshow, original one, not the 11, It would put all the little holes in the right spot.

If you're not in a hurry, you might wait for the new Tikka, should be an interesting rifle and I think they will be available in 17HMR. The Lithgow also seem very interesting, but a little more pricey.

Anschutz 17 series or Cooper are my favorites. The 17 series are no longer made in 17hmr, but there are some used ones around. I am shooting a Cooper LVT myself, and it shoots sub 3/4 moa consistently at 100m with multiple loads.

Well, I'm a big proponent of CZ452s...and don't like the changes CZ made with the 455s so I've never owned one, nor do I plan on it. A 452 or even better, a 453 would/should be good choices. I also don't believe that 22 mag is an inherently accurate caliber no matter what gun it's being run through..so a "high end" 22WMR would be zero temptation to me, personally. I've never shot an Anschutz in 17HMR but suspect it would be a great choice. If I'm spending that much on a rifle, I'd want it to be in a caliber I wouldn't be reluctant to run allot of ammo through and well...17HMR is pricey stuff. To each, their own. I'd love to own one in spite of that. :)

Your 527 in 221~I wanted to add... I bought a 527 Varmint in 17 Hornet late last fall, and while I've only had it out a couple of times, I think the mags are no fun. Especially with cold hands. I bought a James Calhoon single-shot adapter though, and while I've yet to try it..I think it will be key to a better shooting experience with the 527. Might be worth a look.

Ive just got back from a 1000 plus Km drive, blessed we are in North Eastern Alberta, with a number of fine firearms stores,
I've had Cz stainless 455,BLR T-bolts, Sako finfires II, and a number of Volquatsen semis, in my hands today, as well as a few real nice centerfires. Never found any Anschutz to handle, but I sure like to get the Sako and Anschutz side by side.
In the end I had a Sako in .17 HRM, and a couple VQ in .22 mag, on the short list, humming and haring. tough choice.
Ended up taking the laminated VQ, in 22mag,
I like to give a big shout out, to Sylvester sports, for there Quality service, and for honoring, a miss match price tag,
I know most would prefer the .17 HRM, and I've got a Very accurate CZ452 .17 in NZ, but I prefer the .22 mag, and as rifle will undoubtedly end up in New Zealand, at sum point, this is a much better rifle, for the much larger small game down there,
plus I've got a cooper 20 vartarg, for when the rimfires run out of steam.
I still like that sako, sweat little rifle.

If you want a rifle designed for accuracy and not a remodelled sporter like cz's and others then look at a lithgow . Don't get me wrong I have a 452 American and its shoots well but my lithgow out performs most any rifles I have tried . Maybe a Cooper would keep up or put perform it but at a xtr a $1000

Where are Lithgow rifles available in Canada?

Currently my most accurate 22 is a Martini Model 12 that is about 80yrs old. They come with a looonnnngggg barrel that is quite heavy and pretty funky sights. I can shoot it better with irons than a couple of my scoped 22s. My CZ452 is quite adequate for the accuracy I require. Ask the grouse and rabbits in the freezer.....I personally do not need better accuracy than what I have and certainly am not willing to pay a lot more for a little bit of difference. Then again the ammo you shoot and how much you shoot it are part of the equation too. I often wonder how much of the MOA hype is generated by the manufacturers to get us to buy more expensive rifles :)
