OK I learned something today. hyper velocity means a flatter shot yes but precision can be hindered. Accuracy on the bullseye can't be measuresd here in my tests as a rough zero was made with Yellow jackets at 75 to put things on paper - I was testing different weeight and speed of bulletes with out setting the scope so its natural for them to appear off center and grouped elswhere on the paper.
Each brand of ammo was shot at the Bullseye and the only result of interest to us is bullet drop and precision (not accuracy).
I must say the velocitor held some good precision compared to the hyper velocities. Quick shoks were disappointing - its easy to see their apparent high velocity. I think the federal Classic Hyper shows some possibilites and is WAY quieter than the other hyper rounds.
Yellow jackets seemed to be all over at 75 AND 50
There was about a 15 -20 MPH wind - I tried to have the wind at my back - but you know wind in alberta....
here are the results - I was shooting fast cause the sun was going down and rain clouds were moving in. A calm day in the sun - I'll do these tests again...
(note the ones marked 100 are actually 75 - I was shooting quick to get out of there!
CCI-V = Velocitors
CCI-Q = Quik Shoks
Fed Classic = federal Hyper velocity
Yellow = Jackets - figure it out
the velocitors aren;t "hyper velocity" but were in the mix due to reputation. I am going to test some federal gold and mini mags and winchester next time out and these 4 again in calm conditions.
