Hiking Rifle

Light weight 5-1/2 lbs, stainless/synthetic & fun to shoot & get most jobs done small game to deer sized within range of course, but in the 35 calibre pistol round,....357 mag. It works good for me, I carry it mostly in winter!

I like it with a magazine each with .38 spl & .357 mag ammo....

hey all
i'm looking at buying a compact, lightweight rifle to be able to take on some hiking/camping trips. Something i can strap to my backpack, that won't add too much weight. I often will backpack out to a campsite for several hours in the winter, so weight and size is a pretty big concern. Also has to have enough firepower for a coyote and preferably a deer. Caliber must be 270 and under.

I like my Rem.700 Ti in 270/08, 6.lb + a couple ounces scoped and ready to go.
It carries all day easily and is a super accurate rifle, but not for someone who doesn't handload..

Ruger frontier restocked in synthetic in 275 Rigby (7x57 Mauser). Just have a smith swap the barrel or restamp it.

Not sure if a suitable caliber is available in this firearm, but a Tikka T3 Battue would make an exceptional rifle for your needs. Don't know what caliber a it is available in though.

I really like the way mine is now, but I always say when the barrel wears out it will become a .308 however I'll probably be in the ground before it gets tired.
Good luck finding a Ti in .308, sort of like finding a chicken with teeth...
