Hinged Vs Magazine.

Other than rimfire........

When I was shooting a Savage, I learned to dislike loading from the top, (unless just dropping singles into the breech), and unloading by cycling. I like detach mags, and have never had a problem with feeding. Both of my CF rifles are single stack mags, and they work perfectly all the time.

I don't understand when people say that losing mags is a big factor. Maybe some people need to be better organized, is all. :p

Detach mags is like my old days of film photography - with several camera bodies I would have several different film types ready to go instantly- with mags, I can have more than one type of ammo loaded up and ready to go, depending on the situation.

If I didn't use mags, then a floorplate would be my choice.

Hinged FP for me, that's what I learned on. I've had detach mags but when you lose one, try to find one to replace it. A tiika I had cost me 120 bucks to replace and a 788, well, you might as well buy a new rifle.

I don't have a choice. My Husquvrana, Enfield and Model 700 all have blind box mags.

I have a Mosin Magant 91/30 with a hinged magazine bottom that opens.
