HiPoint Carbine - 40S&W Mags in a 9mm 995TS?

Has anyone attempted to use a 40 S&W magazine in the 9mm carbine? Both the .40 and .45 have pistol alternatives available in Canada so pistol mags can be used but my 9mm carbine doesn't and I'm limited to 5 rounds. I know some people have done this on other platforms but I'm not sure if it works on the HiPoint!

yeah it dooooes! But only on the pistol-rifle mag scenario.

The caliber swap (if feasible) should be good to go.

Also: if this was a US forum the first reply would have been "don't buy hipoint"

2. Magazines designed or manufactured for both centrefire calibre rifles and handguns

Magazines designed to contain centrefire cartridges and designed or manufactured for use in a semiautomatic rifle are limited to five cartridges. However, magazines designed to contain centrefire cartridges and designed or manufactured for use in a semiautomatic handgun are limited to 10 cartridges. Magazines designed or manufactured for use in both semiautomatic rifles and semiautomatic handguns are subject to the limit of five cartridges.

Example:
Hi-Point rifle and handgun chambered for 9mm Luger caliber:

magazine capacities over five rounds are prohibited.

From what I understand, the Hi Point magazines in 9mm Luger are prohibited if over 5 rounds (as there isn't a 9mm pistol available in Canada). If the magazine is marked .40 pistol (legal to use in the Hi Point .40 carbine) and it happens to fit in the 9mm carbine, would that be good to go?

I have both. Standby and i will find out if the 40 works in the 9mm. I bought a bunch of pistol mags for each carbine.

I just loaded 11 9mm rounds in a 40 cal HiPnt pistol mag. Feed angle looks good. I am getting excited. I prefer the 40 cal mags for CQB because they have a pad on the bottom and are easier to slap in.

BUT, the mag itself is too fat to fit into the 9mm carbine. So, NO, it will not work.

Ahh thanks for trying! That's too bad, would have been an even more fun rifle with a few extra rounds! Now, what are then regulations with respect to modifications? ... I think I remember it being ok to modify either the firearm or the magazine but I could be wrong...
