In Australia....

Sigh....end of an era for steel/wood firearms in the CDN forces....

Yes Im old (er)
I used an FN and high power when I soldiered ....heavy...hell ya...my scrawny 19yr old frame was pretty weighed down by the FN and a few loaded box mags...there was sufferance humpin that damn thing around...but I had confidence in it...and its ballistics.

Retirin the HighPower altho nigh time....is closing a chapter on a different era of firearms for sure.

I watched the procurement process drag on for a clownshow of time....still think the Sig is the wrong choice...but wuteva

This one is for Australia. I believe Rampart is in the process of trying to sue the government to get the RFP rewritten since the verbiage excluded Glocks by design.

The "cheaper, piggyback off the US" argument virtually guarantees that the 320 will never be general issue in the Canadian Forces. A better argument for CF Procurement is that the gun will be made in Quebec and that adopting the gun will guarantee that the person carrying it will never need to shoot it, and if they did that it would never kill a single person, they would just be incapacitated temporarily. Additionally that the gun will actually do seven things that no one will ever need it to do, but that the CF requires these abilities.

I joined in the mid 90s and pistol replacement was being discussed back then. I went an entire career without seeing it come to fruition. It's good to see it finally happening, but I won't hold my breath based on my experiences with the procurement system.
