Hunting is entirely conscionable in a "left-wing" sense because hunting for food enables one to collect subsistence without supporting corporate agribusiness which cares little for either animal or human welfare.
And like Ol'Smokey said earlier, there is nothing innately "anti-gun" about being "left-wing" either. Most people who are "left-wing" are simply those who believe in the existence and support of a social safety net in society, and subsequently eschew racism, ###ism, and classism. None of these ideas are at all incompatible with gun ownership, which is ideologically neutral (They are objects after all).
Oh and if you want a political equivalent a person can believe in all the above and still vote for the Conservative party, for example, because it is not by any extent a "right-wing" party and is generally fairly in line with contemporary "mainstream" Canadian values today. As gun owners these are the type of people we want to attract (without making ridiculous suggestions about having to "change" their political beliefs) because the more of the Canadian mainstream that is on the side of firearms ownership, the more our societal (and political) attitudes about it will actually change.
