Hiring Firearm Assembler in Barrie, Ontario

"As a pensioner, the job would be a great addition, and the dental plan would be excellent to have, being without a dental plan.
If I did live in the Barrie area, I would certainly think seriously about the job. Being a somewhat skilled gunsmith, I very much doubt that anything I assembled would be returned."

Yes indeed.
I know a few retired Tool & Die Makers who would be good candidates for this type of job.

To be fair I have no idea what is or what's involved in assembling firearms. Ive never assembled or built a single one. But I did respond with a laugh. Being skilled and certified in my industry I wouldnt get out of bed for the offered wage. Nowhere did it say entry level position or unskilled anything. Now that more info has been made available, thanks to many, I would agree that is a perfect youngster/retiree kind of job. Good luck filling the position, way cooler than flipping burgers..

I would assume it is the same skill required to do a thorough cleaning of any firearm.

If only this job was part-time cash under the table...

LOL, people act like a PAL is some kind of holy grail.

Any moron that can read can pass the test and get a PAL.
In this day and age I wouldn't say that. Most of the young high school graduates aren't even reading at a elementary school level. Let alone being able to interpret what it means...

It ain't hoofing 2x4s in -20deg, haha. 20$-22$ with benefits to break into the firearms industry with no experience is pretty decent.
Hoofing 2x4's at -20 sounds like a pretty easy job compared to alot of manual labour out there. When the helicopter can't fly to pick you up on your rig in baffinland when it's below -60 because the naphtha/kerosene fuel is frozen, and leaves you stranded for 3 days until it warms up a bit...
But they do pay you for the entire time at least...

Fair enough, those guys on Baffin Island definitely deserve waaaay more than $22 and hour!

For your reading enjoyment….

sounds like a great job, in the end the Market will decide who applies and who is hired. It's that simple guys...

This is such a shame. You want to pay far less than a livable wage and then wonder why you have a hard time finding a worker that takes pride in their work. This will be a revolving door position for folks, who will constantly be quitting as they find better opportunities. You will never have an assembler long enough to become experienced and will constantly be in a training process and dealing with defects from unexperienced workers. Fast food joints pay better wages and need no licence, mechanical ability, or any skill set whatsoever. Your store discount is worthless to someone that can’t afford to eat.

Note to self never purchase a firearm assembled by victory ridge sports.
Use store discount, buy ammo, shoot a deer, eat deer, repeat

I've gotten annoyed with some of the less respectful job postings here, before. Victory Ridge gets the seal of approval for not being scummy with job listings.

$22 an hour stated up front + benefits for a COL of Barrie is not out of the question. As long as there are raises at some point, this is pretty decent.

I'm always shocked when Industry members come on here posting 'I'd pay you less if I could' to this niche community. Easy pit fall to avoid.

Or for a skilled retired guy, on a fixed income. This would keep you in beer and gas money. ;)
