Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has used the Hirtenberger surplus in an RFB and what their thoughts are on it? Also, I was on a Canadian website that sold the Hirtenberger by the 20 round box but now I can't find it again. Does anyone know who sells it like that? It was a company that I had never heard of before.

Thanks!

Tradex perhaps. They have Hintenberger in 20 round boxes packed in battle pack of 240 rounds, and case of 720 rounds. Free shipping.

Tradeex and marstar. Yes they work great in rfb. I have personally tried it. Can't comment on accuracy but no failures out of hundreds of rounds.

Boxer primed ammo is commonly referred to as reloadable. Berdan primed not so much...

Yes, any time you are reloading Boxer primed ammo you need to decap it (remove the primer). I do it before tumbling so it cleans the primer pocket as well. Decapping can be a bit of a pain with crimped primer pockets as is common in military ammo. I'm not sure if the Hirtenberger ammo was crimped.

Sorry for the unrelated question, but are the bi-metal bullets of this Hirtenberg stuff stick on a magnet? Thanks

One has a red seal on the primer, the other has a green one. Red good, green bad for reloading, both great for shooting.

Really? My RFB is the gentlest semi on brass I've shot. Maybe turn down the gas a bit? Put a witness mark on it first in case it doesn't work out. Mine ran the hirty excellent, no issues and excellent accuracy. I had the berdan primed version. Great value ammo. Only complaint is I mixed one in when I was reloading and broke my decapping pin! Doh! My bad.
