His very first Bear:)

We hiked around 9km up some deactivated logging roads in the Jamison creek area of Kamloops, BC.

We caught the big boy cutting through some cut blocks and stalked him to get within 100 meters or so and took him using my 30-284 rem700:)

Funny thing is the bullet never came out the other side???? I found the jacket and the lead core in the coat on the opposite side (no ribs were hit). I'm using the 175GR noslers doing2715fps.

Do bullets have less expanding properties at closer ranges???

Anyway the shot went through the heart and stopped him in his tracks:)

Height of the big bugger was 6'7" and I'd say he weighed around 350-400 lbs
A good size I thought:)

Nice Bear!
Lead core bullets?! Started using Barnes TSX's. Will never go back. Used a Remington Scirocco 180gr with my 300rum on a moose at 130yrds one time. Bullet ended up in a LOT of pieces when it hit heavy bone. Since switching to Barnes, their solid copper bullets have never done that to me.
Just my 2 cents.
