HK 3x sight for SL8

its nice as clear as the zeiss scope i was comparing it too from the display cabinet, pricey though... i was looking at the dual optic on the SL8 at my local shop...

Ah, the dual-optic. I used one to get decent groups out as far as 600yards.

Scope:
- many have small black 'speckles' in the field of vision. Try before you buy. Works as well as a clear one, but distracting.
- some have a double-image effect on the reticle markings, particularly the range-finder part.
- adjustments are a pain, because there are no 'clicks'. Of course, once you sight it in it's fine, and the 4/6/800 yard marks work fine with milspec ammo. Mine held zero.

The reflex site:
- uses a non-standard battery. Available, but pricey. Leave the top window open during daylight and leave the battery off.
- self-adjusting to target lighting conditions - works really well.
- ultra-crisp dot, clear optics.
- small field of view

The reflex sight is _not_ a CQB sight - people who try to use it that way are always disappointed. Germany army practice is to use the reflex sight out to 200 yards, and the scope beyond that.

Overall, it's the ultimate dress-up for your SL8, but for utility precision work you'll want a normal scope.

Would a HK low rail and HK iron sights work well with an Aimpoint ML2?

Seems like a better alternative:

Although Im not sure if the Aimpoint will line up with the standard sights ? ARMS M68? Anyone try this?

Works well with a Holosight, should be just as good with an Aimpoint. That's without iron sights, which are too low to co-witness.

http://www.idpaontario.com/modules....ame=gallery&file=index&include=view_photo.php - notice the guy in bright-red "mall camo", SL8 + holosight. I won this part of the match handily.

Ive been looking at the various rails avaiable for the SL8-4 and the stock rail with iron sights will probably serve the best.
What is the difference between the SL8-4 low rail and the G36K style rail:

There are aftermarket rails available: (But I doubt that they would be any better than stock)

If you're doing precision work, a CNC-milled Aluminum Doc Rak is far superior. But for a reflex sight, the stock polymer rail is fine.

My SL8 rail does not have pic grooves all along the top - only spots where you're likely to mount a scope. The picture you posted of the converted SL8 shows what I'm talking about.

Regarding co-witnessing, I just put a Holosight on a rail with the stock irons - too low (the irons), but looks like a half-inch riser (YHM 226) would cure the problem.
