Was able to acquire a few of these for the cartridge collection. Very cool little pieces.
I took one apart, inside is a 51 grain 4.91mm copper coated steel projectile, and primer.
This batch is Jan 30th 1990.

Lots of info on these little rounds online, if you are interested, I recommend reading up on it.

Cool, thanks! If possible, could you post a pick of it next to 5.56 or 308 etc for scale please? Projectile looks huge compared to the complete round.

Wow that’s a interesting buy, I’m shocked you found some for sale
Thx for posting

Quite a few in Canada, not that hard to come across, especially if you are familiar with the cartridge collecting fraternity. Battlepacks etc are still out there. I just collect the 4,7X21 variant myself, and even those can still be had here.

I’ve never seen these in Canada before. I got mine from Europe.
What’s in a battle pack? Do you have pictures available?

Here's a picture of a typical 4.92 and the earlier 4.7mm battle packs.

H&K also made a very limited number of rounds in 5.56mm.

Like Dosing, I prefer the earlier 4.7mm and have managed to find a few of the very early variations.

(Post for Paul, who has a quite extensive collection of the HK caseless rounds.)

Well, I'd never heard of this concept until today. Very interesting, although it would appear the drawbacks of the caseless design thus far outweigh the positives.

Not really. The G11 was on the verge of being adopted until the wall came down, and suddenly going to a whole new rifle and new ammunition, supply chain etc didnt seem worth it.

Pics of Woodin's collection, lots of HK caseless https ://forum.cartridgecollectors.org/t/bill-woodin-s-laboratory-in-pictures-ii/37796
