HK 416 vs MR223 upper

I was talking to someone here on CGN, who owns a 416 upper, and he tells me the bolt group and the piston system are the same. It wouldn't surprise me if the barrel is identical too, other than the 5.56 versus .223 markings (just like the HK SL8 is marked .223 but is designed for 5.56). So, apart from the location of the pins, they seem to be almost identical?

EDIT: Yep, $15K is lots...... but, if you have the cash, and you want it......

Surprising isn't that someone sold one of them for 15K yet I am sure that he didn't pay more than $3400.00- $4300.00 ea for them

Supply and Demand

true.... nobody forces you to pay. It's a free choice. I'm down about $5k, overall, from my habit of buying new then selling used in the EE (don't like used guns). If I could equalize that with a single sale of an HK 416 upper, then I would go for it, and not lose a wink of sleep.

As far as I can tell from the pics I've seen of the MR223 the upper appears to be identical except for the pin relocation. There is also less markings on the real 416 upper. It just has "HK" and the proofs with a date code on the front left of the receiver and on the bottom beside the rear take down pin there is the serial number. Thats all I can tell thats different between the two.
