I'm thinking of getting a Mark 23 and I'm currently at the pricing stage.

Anyone have one of these that can offer some words of wisdom? Am I getting in over my head with a pistol priced this high or is it worth every penny?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I have large hands so that wasn't a concern. For the money get a H&K P7 of some flavour. Even the people that contracted the pistol to be made (US SOCOM) don't really use their nifty "Offensive Pistol".

Why make a rifle when you can make a pistol nearly as big as a rifle.

The MK23 is just a slightly larger USP with modifications.

The gun itself is rather small I must say, then again my hands engulf a Ruger P89 and other "FAT" sized pistols. (I swear a size SMALL/MED glove tho...)

Handled a P7 and its too damn small for my hands, handled a Glock 26 along side the P7 and I swear the gun disappeared in my hands lol.

Well, if you don't want to go for a MK23, at leats go for the USP tactical. Match trigger and taget sights, or the USP Expert with the longer slide and match trigger.

I have been on the fence about a MK23 for a while. I still don't know if I should get it or not. 1.5" average at 25 yards.... that's not accuracy you want to pass up. Plus you've got a long sight radius and a heavy weight, I'd imagine it would be very forgiving to shoot.

well i guess i should chime in since i own one. i love it, its kinda like a desert eagle (brag guns) but actually works. its accurate, reliable, fun to shoot, and worth the money.

fine working and very accurate pistols. expensive, but if thats your slice, go for it and have fun.
i'd like one, after my 649 comes in though lol.

This is coming from the guy that sells everything that he comes across. I don't even know if he has any guns :p

If not's not a great endosment, I don't know what is.

I am just on a quest to try them all.... just a few more to go now. I provide a valuable service to the gun community. I buy new, thereby increasing the absolute number of guns in Canada. I sell most of them, at a loss, after a few hundred rounds, thereby generating some compelling deals on the used market. 1, 2, 3, everybody wins:

1) More registered guns in the country.
2) CGN brethren get smoking deals on minty guns.
3) I get to try every gun I've ever dreamed of.

Having said that, I do keep a few :)

Thanks guys, I appreciate the input. I might just go for it, will let you know if I do with Pics. Like anyone needs to know what it looks like though.

If any of the Mark 23 haters actually own one and want to get rid of it I'm willing to buy...if the price matches your opinion of the gun.

If you are ever in the mood to sell that HK G36 give me a shout. ;)

I have to agree with UncleWalther. He doesnt sell guns for the same price he paid. I would be the first in line to buy a gun from him.

If you want to point out people that sells everything they come across, try the EE forums, there is PLENTY of 800$ glocks and 500$ norincos. Oh wait, there's a holster coming with it! :bsFlag:

You wanna laugh HARD? Look at FRED FARMER, hes selleing a glock for 900$ and a CZ-75 (basic) for 1100$: reason: low serial numbers

They're nothing special...
Huge and unwieldy....high bore axis to grip means muzzle flip ++.
Miniscule safety and a finger eating decocker make this one of H&K's worst efforts ergo-wise.....
No wonder they were probably used more in "Tears of the Sun" (Bruce Willis) than in real world scenarios.
Had one..tried desperately to like it...found it was much like a few 'high maintenance' relationships I've had....too much effort, too many foibles for it to be a 'keeper'.
I'm probably one of the few guys who buys more new units, only to flip them (at a loss), than UncleWalther....but we're both continuing our 'quest for the Grail'.

I must admit, the Mark 23 has a safety that is a frigging knuckle biter for lefties. Had to shoot with a band-aid on my thumb knuckle to protect it. That's why I sold my Mark 23 to Foxbat :D
