HK MR223s on order for Canada

The LWRC M6(or whatever the export version will be called) will be over $2K. It's $1900USD Stateside. It's restricted, AR15 variant.

I sincerely doubt that the MR223 will be anything other than restricted, AR15 variant. It's got a 16.1" barrel, so it's restricted regardless.

Minor update: FN Sports is only importing 50 of these rifles. The MSRP is $4200. HK must really be riding the brand name on this one. Although, with an expected delivery date of mid-late 2009, maybe HK is just adjusting for inflation ahead of time ;)

Great so who else is going to be bringing these in?

I predict all 50 are sold, and then a bunch pop up on the EE for at least 5k.

IF you can out fit that HK rifles with all the oPtion, then Yet, I would pay for it, otherwise it over prices!

with 50 in, i think they are expecting to play the rarity game, like augs

wish people would get smart and NOT throw money around and show companies that as long as its rare and exclusive, they can price it however they want

For less you can buy a non-restricted XCR, Sig 550 or Tavor...

...so can someone fill me in as to why they would buy this rifle?

That's just economics though. I would imagine HK could send in the MR223s for $2500 if there was an order for 10,000 instead. Regardless, you can bet there'd still be folks saying I'm not paying a dime over $500! People.. go figure.

Only HK guns I'd buy is a G3 or a SL8. For over 4,000$ I'd expect alot more then a un-compatable with its own (ie other AR-15's) restricted safe queen.

Mind you I wouldn't hold my breath on FN Sports Delivery dates, my 3-5 weeks to get a M1A took 5 months.

Being reasonably new to rifles, can someone explain the purpose of the "convex" butt pad that is an option on the MR223's? Is there any reason why that would be chosen in preference to the standard "concave" stock?

I think its for when your wearing body armor the armor will bulge under your shoulder so you an actually put the butt properly on your shoulder instead of your armpit where a convex or straight butt would go.

That is like saying you can buy a Buick, Ford or a Honda for less than a Corvette!

Why would anyone want to buy a Corvette?????

Is this rifle more accurate, reliable or rugged than all of the three non-restricted rifles I mentioned?

It can be shorter because it is restricted but for that big a price difference along with the inability to legally use it anywhere but a range, well - not worth it IMO.

Now if you are saying someone will buy it because they happen to like that particular rifle, for whatever reason, well then it is a matter of choice...

...I'm NOT downing anyone for wanting to buy it, I'm just trying to understand the choice, that's all.

Let the people who can afford it buy it.

Me, I'll take that $4000-4200 and buy a shotgun, 2 rifles and maybe 2 handguns.

XCR...

Yes!, Yes! and God Yes!

Throw a few accessories on that Sig....like a scope rail and railed Handguard... You'll be over $4K in no time...(wait...there is no railed handguard)

4K is insane for an AR. But I am glad they are coming. The more options the better.

Something tells me they don't charge LE/Mil 4K for the Hk416 though. You'd be a total sucker to give into their name brand gouging if you bought one for 4k.
