HK P2000 Correctional Service of Canada's new duty pistol

SBranson23,

Thank you for your contribution. I learned a lot from connecting to that link you provided. I will say this: my groupings at the range indicate that I perform better than many firearms instructors, ERT and HRT members; therefore, if I can maintain the same level of proficiency with the HK P2000 as I currently do with the Model 10, the M & P, the 5946, and any other platform that I have the opportunity to train with, then I will be very much satisfied that I have a good tool on my hip.

Wow, toot your own horn much?

The point is...that this is another government agency picking some useless eurogun: read plastic....when they could have picked a 1911 copy made here in canada by Para chambered in a proper defence cartridge...;the .45 Auto.....It should be a requirement that what ever gun is chosen, it should be made in canada.

Actually the requirement for the firearm should be that it passes the standards set out by the department adopting it. Make sure that the proper tool is in the hands of those who need it. Who gives a #### where it is made?

agreed, however you dont want a SA only pistol in that environment. i think a 1911 would be the wrong choise

1 round in 5 seconds, 2 rounds in 6 seconds for the .38
and 1 round in 20 seconds, 2 rounds in 30 seconds for the 9mm and .223

I don't think that you should be bragging about having better groupings and suggesting your a better shot then your FAIs or ERT/HRT.

Maybe he is? And why do you care?

Keep it Kara -
There are no government agencies in Canada that issue or allow the 1911 platform to be used as a duty sidearm. there are only a few states in the US that will alow an officer to use a 1911 sidearm - and that sidearm is the property of the officer, not the agency.

andrew870,
Any reason(s) why Canadian LE organizations have not adopted 1911 style platforms? Also, from your knowledge, do you know of any LE department using 45 ACP or 45 GAP caliber ammunition?
