HK P2000 LEM Problems

A couple of things factor into causing it. Sometimes it's the slide lock getting jiggled by the magazine inside of the gun. The other cause is the slide lock having a bit of play and moving slightly from the firm whack on the butt of the grip. The angle of how you hold the handgun and hit it from will determine if this happens or not.

i can get my g17 to do this when I want it to. i call it a feature. others call it...bad. meh.

Ditto with the USP's, both the ones I've had will do this. I found that for IPSC (..oops! ran it dry again!!)) it is a nice feature.

I played with a P2000 while visiting a Cabellas a while back. I think it'd be pretty hard to get and accidental discharge while seating mags, the trigger needs to travel realllly far to fire and reset.

While just about everyone agrees that this ''feature'' occurs for many guns, why is it a safety concern? If you are handing a firearm, you should be responsible about it regardless of whether one is Law enforcement or not. If an officer can't handle his firearm, he shouldn't be working for the police unless he is behind a desk.

Yes of course, only that he'll be behind a desk and not on the streets with a firearm he can't handle...he'd only be liable when he scratches his butt with the muzzle of his pistol.

Agreed...Unfortunetly,as in many areas, there are a lot of people out there that are not in the right job for them. Maybe it's the paycheck or the status that they like but there is nothing to be done about it (except for extreme cases) because of one thing........UNIONS.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think that unions are all wrong, but the one thing that s***s me about them is that they have a legal obligation to protect all their members, even the ones that should be fired.

Armoured Metal,

I sent you a reply to your PM. My comments stem from the fact that like you, I agree that people have the responsibility to familiarise themselves with something that is part of their job profile. Personally I have problems with certain union policies but while there can be good things as well....if those union workers are so obediant to their coffee breaks and etc, they should also have familiarisation and qualifications in cases of firearms use. Can't operate the weapon? You don't work until you pass. (In Switzerland, every man is called upon to be able to defend his country and must qualify with his issued SIG550(haha) otherwise you will have to constantly go in for retesting until you pass. It is your responsibility and the law.)

Obviously, this is in an idealistic situation....ie never going to happen with some of these workers. Like I said in the PM, just about every firearm company offers those training pistols in red and blue....they aren't made for kids to play with. In any case, for the deadbeats, I hope they never harm anyone out of their negligence except for shooting themselves in the butt.

Never saw one shoot himself in the butt...However, we had a guy who accidently discharged his firearm an inch from his foot while reholstering. He blamed it on the tumb snap of his holster getting in front of the trigger..........Yeah,of course!
