As a new father of my second baby girl, it is time for me to purchase my first handgun. (really it's just an excuse to buy another toy)

I have been eye raping a HK P30L for about a year now, but before I make the plunge I had some questions about it.

I have noticed in the states you can get it in .40 S&W but I have not been able to find it up here. Is it available?

Secoundly I have read that with the P2000 9mm you can use the .40S&W mags to hold 13 rounds of 9mm legally. Is this true? And if so is the same possible for the P30L S&W magizines?

Lastly onto reloading (wrong forum I know) I have shot the p30l with speer 124gr gold dot, and liked the feel of the round. Is there any place to cost effectively buy the 124gr Speer bullets or does the cost savings of casting lead bullets in 124gr far out weigh any accuracy loss I might lose of a factory formed and jacked round? (I already own a RCBS auto press and I have all the casting supplies, less the molds)

Thanks for any help you guys can give.

I just purchased a P30L 2 weeks ago.
From what I was told the .40 hasn't been imported yet.

As for reloading I'm using 125gr Zero brand JHP's over 4.2 gr of Titegroup with an OAL of 1.125" and it shoots very well. My friend is using 4.2gr which is a +P load of so I'm told.

Warning: Verify all load data with at least 2 reloading manuals and work your way up from a minimum load. I or CGN are not responsible for any mishaps due to someone using my load data

As far as the pistol goes it feels great in the hand but the magazines aren't cheap.

Using the mags in this manner is definitely legal but whether it will give you feeding issues I couldn't say.

if you can, get the P30-L-S model....DA/SA

I prefer a 147gr.
I only use Canadian BDX /Combat masters made ammunition.

Plated bullets are only slightly more expensive than lead and will work very well. I've shot piles of 124's and 147's through my p30l with good results.

Regarding magazines - they are hard enough to find in 9mm - I think it will be some time before .40 p30 mags are readily available.

yep,..plated will work no problem,..some plated would only tumble out of my USP's.

Cast bullets will work just fine; just make sure you aren't getting excessive leading.

I'm pretty sure I tried lead 147's in my p30l with no good results (tumbling, poor accuracy). 124's would likely be worse. I load for a 130+ power factor so light loads may be OK.
