The HK P30L V1 LEM is a (sort of) double action handgun, without a decocker. After you rack the slide to load the first round the hammer stays cocked. You could lower the hammer only by depressing the trigger and, at the same time, carefully letting the hammer slowly down with your thumb.

I was told that in IDPA this is forbidden. Therefore, for the first shot, you rack it and then you have to holster it with the hammer cocked. To shoot the first round you take it out of the holster and just press the trigger. (If you have the P30LS version - with a safety like a M1911 - you engage it before holstering it and, of course, disengage it before firing the first shot.)

Question: What do you have to do in IPSC after racking the slide to load the first round and before holstering it? Are you obliged to slowly lower the hammer while depressing the trigger and holster it with the hammer down? Or you have to holster it, like in IDPA, with the hammer cocked considering that it doesn't have a decocker? :yingyang:

Thanks

It isn't a double action (sort of), it IS a double action. Good for both IPSC production and SSP. #### and go like a glock, the only real difference is it has an external hammer as opposed to being striker fired.

After you rack the slide to load the first round the hammer stays cocked.
It isn't fully cocked until the trigger is depressed - hence being double action.

I compare it with double action guns with decockers, let's say Beretta 92 FS. For those, the first shot requires 100% hammer cocking by trigger action.

But the important thing is to be able to holster the P30L without being obliged to manually lower the hammer first. (I've heard some other opinions saying that in IPSC you must lower the P30L hammer before holstering it and this is not what I want for this gun.)

I dont know who told you that you cant lower the hammer in IDPA i shoot my CZ75-B and i lower the hammer and no one has ever told me i cant

Guys, this gun is basically a DAO, the hammer is ALWAYS down until the trigger is pressed. It is designed to be holstered after loading, there is no decocking procedure.

Basically (as aready noted) the action is like a Glock, M&P etc... there is no safety other than the trigger.

The V1 LEM is essentially double action only, no decocker.
When the slide is not racked, the double action pull is around 11 1/2 lbs. and the hammer is not exposed.
When it is racked the double action is around 6 lbs. and the hammer is still not exposed - in fact, it is in the same position for both.
The only time the hammer remains in the rearward position is when the slide is racked after a round is fired and another round fed into battery, if the trigger is not fully released, but is released to the reset (trigger pull from reset is still around 6 lbs, and I believe still double action).

Ed. To add: RAKS beat me to the punch line
