HK P30L versus CZ75B Pros, cons.

I can pop clays at 20 yards with my shadow orange all day. The sig forget trying that ever, that nasty grindy trigger and that fat grip are the biggest issues.

That's too bad, Mike.
The SRT trigger will help with the pull and the thin aluminum grips will help with the girth. The problem is you gotta spend more $ and you still may not like the gun after.
If you are looking for a change, take a look at the Walther PPQ? Much better trigger than the HK. You already have CZs. The 75B trigger won't be any better than your Orange! For an interesting gun, check out the Arsenal Strike One. It has an unusual trigger release but nothing you can't get used to. Very low bore axis, like your CZ and surprisingly well made IMO. Difficult to find spare mags and holsters etc. for it at the moment but I'm sure that will change. I was told the gun will be featured in the next Bond movie which will stir interest in it for sure!

with a bit of polishing and the SRT, you will find the sig trigger much improved. And slim grips are available. The nice thing with the 226 is that it is an accurate pistol (at least i've never seen one that wouldn't do better then most duty quality guns)

That said, i prefer the CZ, and i particularly lust after the satin finished stainless model with the rosewood grips. I'd just purchased a new CZ75B when that model was released and haven't figured a way to justify acquiring a second CZ 75 until i have a shadow....

i have had both, ended up selling the p30L, the trigger takes some getting used to since it is more of a duty pistol. love my 75b, don't think i will ever get rid of it.. although upgrading to a shadow or canadian version has been on my mind.

I have the P30L in LEM and I have a Tanfoglio (I know not a CZ but close).

They are 2 very different guns and I love them both. The P30 is arguably the most comfy gun in the hand, but it isn't as easy to shoot well for me as the Tanfoglio.

I guess it comes down to really what you're going to use it for, if you like heavier metal guns or competition obviously the CZ.. If you like polymer guns the Hk. The LEM trigger is pretty good, it's not great but it's decent.

But if you already own a Shadow I would say Hk all the way.. and well it's an HK so you can't go wrong ;p

Well, I got one of the original CZ75's....waaay back in the 80's....can't remember, maybe the late 70's. Loved it then....still love it. Would like a CZZ75B in stainless.....but might like a C85 tactical.....or maybe even a shadow. Decisions, decisions! Hate to get rid of my 75...but would have to sell it to begin to finance something else.

I can tell you right now if you can't shoot the 226 you will shoot worse still with the P30L. The trigger(I have the light lem also shot the DA/SA) isn't bad in itself, but you won't mistake it for a match trigger. It's tactile enough that with winter mitts on at -20 I can tell you where the reset on the trigger is, but I can tell you right now it is the most unforgiving handgun I have ever shot.

Here is everything I have tried at least a couple hundred rounds on.
Sig P226. Standard DA/SA (9mm)
Beretta PX4 Storm. Standard DA/SA (9mm)
CZ75B. DA/SA (9mm)
Glock 17. Half cocked DAO (9mm)
Smith & Wesson M&P (9mm & 40S&W)
HK USP DA/SA(9mm) DA/SA(45acp) LEM(45acp)
HK P2000 DA/SA(9mm)
Sig P250 DAO (9mm)
Glock 22 Pre cocked DAO (40S&W)
1911(don't remember make) SA (45acp)

I've also dry fired some other guns, but I won't count those since I haven't actually shot them at all. I have shot the P226, glock 17, USP 45, and CZ75 both before I owned the P30L and reasonably recently on multiple occasions. The better I got with the P30L, the better I got with the rest.

I will be honest if your fundamentals aren't good the pistol will not flatter you, it will shoot all over the place. The P226 and the CZ75 even more so is very forgiving(at least in the 9mm trim that I shot them in), I shot the cz75 first when I had a nasty flinch going(shooting very low left with the P30L) and it would shoot almost bang on with a noticably tighter group. Now that I have cleaned up a bit(long way to go still) my groups with my P30L and CZ75 is very similar(the 5 shot 15 group my P30L test target still smokes both though).

If you are interested in improving as a shooter and want a very reliable pistol, I can absolutely recommend the P30L. Solid gun. If you want a pistol that flatters you, the CZ will do it well. I don't think highly of its reliability or durability, then again I don't own one or have more than a few hundred rounds down the tube of one so I have no hard data to show for it, just what I observed at the range.

I don't find the HK unforgiving at all. It was my first handgun and I picked it up fairly quick with it. I like it much better then the 226. YMMV.

If you have the basics down it's not. Like I said poor trigger control is displayed on target, more than anything else I have shot, whether it was improper finger placement, flinching, or just a bad pull it showed everytime. Whereas the 226 and the cz and the very limited time I spent with it the 1911 did not, botched the pull a little? No biggie, flinch, little low left no big deal. This is more specifically for the LEM model, because I haven't tried the DA/SA in a long time.
