I don't know alot about computer stuff, and I tried to copy this video. Is there anyway to copy any of the videos on youtube, in particular this one?
Or is that one of those internet, illegal things? Have they got some sort of 'can't copy' software?
There are many ways to download the flash videos from sites like Google and Youtube. I'll start with the easiest first...
The quickest way is to use a web service like KeepVid (ht tp://keepvid.com/).
Just copy the shortcut that koalorka posted, paste it to the Keepvid page and it will create a direct download link for you. Save to your computer and you are done. The only problem is that all youtube videos are in flash format (.flv) and some people don't have the ability to watch them on their media player. Solution is to hit up Google and type in 'flash player + freeware'. This search should return a bunch of free flash players to download. I've used FLVplayer with OK results.
The next way is to download it to your computer using a piece of software. These can be found with Google as well 'flash download + freeware'. The advantage to these programs is you can choose an output format of your choice, like .mpg or .avi, to make watching the vids easier. I don't currently have any suggestions on this..
I download and watch in .flv because they are small files. The HK vid above is only 20 megs. As long as your video player supports flash video stock or with a plug in, it is the way to go to save space on the hard drive. You don't see any increase in quality going to the other formats, it just makes them more universal to play.
Koldt, just use Keepvid and see if your computer will play the saved flash file. If so, you're done. If not just download a flash player/ plug in as I suggested install it then play video. I think it is the easiest way for you to go.
And as far as I know there is nothing illegal about downloading flash videos, just uploading ones that are copyrighted material. Fill yer boots....
