Im a 1911 fan but feel i need a striker fired pistol because well i dont have one. Ive handled the hk sfp9 in stores and loved it but im seeing more and more apx guns. Havent really had alot of time with either. Whats the cgn collective opinion on which is a better built gun?
Sole purpose is just for plinking

my first choice is Glock, but then I would go APX and then HK. only do to support and parts availability. HK sucks in that department.

When you buy an H&K firearm, you don't need to worry about replacing parts. Never compromise.

One of the best things for me 'bout the SFP9, is the mag release in the trigger guard.

Now if only the CFO would get off their butt and complete my transfer.

Beretta over HK. HK parts are a PITA to get.
Have you considered other options?
Glock, CZ P10, Masada, FN509, Steyr?

Youtube is your friend with decisions like this. Lots of comparison videos. The differences are minor.

I'm amazed at the great used prices on SPF9's here on the EE which I why I ended up with an SPF9. Out of all the striker pistols I've tried (sorry no APX) it's by far the most accurate in my hands. The trigger is really excellent. It seems that they're not all that popular. Probably because the mags are like $90 each!

That said, HK in general makes amazing functioning firearms with quality/durability as a top priority. Watch some direct comparison vids. It'll give you an idea.

I have owned a number of HK's including the SFP 9. They were all good shooters but something about them always made me sell them. I always preferred Glocks and that's what I mostly shoot.

Lots to love about the HK on paper, but never really felt good, despite what some would call excellent ergos. As much as I love the platform, I really can't warm up to that mag release.

My biggest issue is with trigger. It's a nice trigger objectively, but it pinches my finger, taking some of the run out.
